I have a funny story to tell about my daughter...

Pretty. This photo is mine.

My daughter only leaves the house voluntarily late at night. (She is agoraphobic... she doesn't like crowds or too much open space.) Pretty jogs after dark... Our city has a curfew for High School Students of 11 pm. Several times in the past two weeks the local police have stopped her and ask why she is out past curfew. Pretty is 30 years old! I laugh a LOT when she comes home mad about being stopped! Can you tell me any funny stories about your kids?

I have no kids, but I remember when a security guard stopped me while I was going inside the Monte-Carlo Casino and wanted to see my ID to be sure I was 21... I was 42.

@DaddyEvil I asked to the guy if he was joking or taking fun of me, but he sounded honest. Now when I ask for "senior discount" people want to see my ID all the time.

You have the same problem Pretty has, Anna! I no longer look like I could be a High School student but I had the same problem until I was in my mid-thirties. People still guess my age ten years younger than I actually am.

@DaddyEvil Lol, NO ! It is because I am rarely in the streets during the night, I have had my ID checked only twice during my life in a street while some people are complaining to be controlled every week. I have probably not the face of a potential bank robber.

No, she isn't. When I mention her safety, she only shows me her can of mace and reminds me that she always carries her phone with her. She is an adult. I can't control her and wouldn't if she would let me.

My sister-in-law who lives in New Jersey is 35 years old and one time she went to buy a lottery ticket but she was refused to because she was just a child.. So she brought her two kids with her to say she's their mother but she was accused of using children for her benefit!

@DaddyEvil I seriously doubt you're a terrible dad. Parents like to find a reason to tease their kids. Mine tease me unmercifully when it comes to my driving - getting places without getting lost - that is.

I had to look up 'vegeta costume' to see what you were talking about. When my daughter decided to lose weight she contacted some of the weight loss companies on the internet to see if they would pay her to write a blog about her journey. One company offered her weights, gloves and a belt, along with several of those shirts if she would agree to post photos on her blog as she went along. She accepted. She lost 80 lbs in 10 months and still lifts and jogs to keep her weight stable. Isn't it time you thought about starting a family? *grinning and teasing you*

@cintol I don't know if it's the same officers each time, but I doubt it. Pretty would have said if it was the same one(s) each time. Yeah, that could be it. Pretty just told me she has a boyfriend... He came and stayed a few days with us last month. I didn't get to meet him though. I was asleep when they were awake and vice versa.

@JudyEv Things were quite a bit different several years ago, Judy... An underage person was allowed to go into a bar back when I was 18 but I wasn't supposed to be served there, even though the bartenders didn't worry about watching me closely enough to stop me from drinking back then. Now, most bars won't even let someone in if they aren't old enough to drink!

I know about the poor girl agoraphobia but eek I'd be so scared outside at night. She is so lucky to look so young I have always looked older then my age and it was fun as a teen but not at 35.

@DaddyEvil that is really nice the high school boy jogs with her. I am sure that makes you feel safer knowing she isn't alone. I don't know why the dark scares me so bad. Years ago I couldn't even step onto the porch in the dark now I can go about 100 feet from the porch to take the dog out at night to go the bathroom and take out the garbage. There are street lights so it's not totally dark. I'd love to hear the story about Prettys cell phone!

@DaddyEvil that sounds like a neat app. In the dark that app would just scare me all the more even though I don't believe in zombies it still seems like it would make me a little paranoid.

Why would you be scared of being outside at night? (She always carries a cell phone (I could tell you a funny story about her cell phone, if you're interested?) and mace when she goes out jogging. There is also a very nice young man (That's how she described him. ) who jogs with her if she isn't out past his curfew. (He IS a High School student. ) Uhm... strangers (when asked) still guess my age at ten to fifteen years younger than I actually am. (Of course, maybe they are just trying to be polite and/or don't want to offend me by saying how old I really look to them. *shrug* You're welcome to believe whatever you want.) I will tell you that I got really tired of being asked for my ID when I went into bars.... *sigh* mostly because my friends wouldn't let it drop after we got into the bar or they egged on the bouncer by telling him I was underage... every time we went out. (I finally just stopped going into bars with them. My friends really hated it when I just refused to go out with them on Saturday nights... )

Then I how would you be able to eat so much. The reply comes "Khana digest ho gaya (My food got digested! ") And I can't stop laughing at such talk

I have three, two men, one adopted and one woman, all grown up. My daugther was here last weekend and we went and had our toes colored. It was a birthday event we do every year. They are all great adults and I enjoy every moment with them. The two oldest moved their bees from my son''s farm and put it in my daughter's yard (big country yard) because the bears around my son's place seem to get all the hives every spring. They are hopeful the bears will not find the behives ever again. And yes they are protected by electricity but a hungry bear will knock down and ignore the wires when they are hungry.

@PainsOnSlate Oh! Well then, I hope you're right. Uhhh... well, I would have a bit of difficulty fitting painting my nails (toe or finger) into my view of myself... I can see me doing something like that for a joke but not for everyday living. *shrug* I will tell you I don't believe I have to act as masculine/macho as some men I've met, but I'm not effeminate, either. I would say the Man Box I grew up in was less about showing and being aggressive and more about being and showing genuine concern for others. (Does that make sense? Whether it makes sense to others or not, it's the way I am most comfortable viewing myself.)

Oh, wow! I hope moving the hives to a different area will keep the bears from finding them, but wouldn't bet on that. (Bears have a very acute sense of smell. They can scent honey or carcasses from up to 20 miles away.) Even if the bears that originally raided the hives can't find them any other bears within that distance will smell them and come hunting. Oh, that is a funny way to celebrate your birthday! (Happy belated birthday!) I don't think my daughter and I will decide that's a good way to celebrate my birthdays.

@DaddyEvil why?don't you want to color your toes? My daughter lives in the boonies and has for years, but its closer to humans than the farm. I doubt they will ever see a bear in her yard.

Mine isn't about my kids but about my mom with me. We were all sleigh riding down the big hill in front of my house. It was my parents, my sister and some friends. Being all bundled up as it was so cold, people could not really see who was who. Some guy tried to pick my mom up and she said to him, do you know Nancy and he said yes, she said I am her mother. The guy rode right past our house then and we never saw him again.
