A Blind Dog Catcher, Hmmmmm........

Ok, this is a new one for me. My daughter and I had to go to the store late last night and we got home about 11 PM. We pulled in the driveway and the neighbor came over asking if we saw a man. My daughter looked down the street and said" that one"? This guy was walking up the street and said, "you calling the cops on me" because our neighbor was on the phone. She said no and told us he was walking around shining a flashlight in the yards. Here's the weird part, he was wearing sunglasses and carrying a lasso!!! He told us "it was really none of our business" but he is a dog catcher and was looking for a dog with a red bandanna because it was loose and had bitten someone. Excuse me, but you are wearing sunglasses in the middle of the night (he told us he is medically blind) and carrying a flashlight and lasso looking in yards, and by the way, where's your TRUCK. I think that makes it our business. He got very rude and when we asked how he was going to capture it he said with his "cowboy rope",uhhh, wouldn't that be a lasso?? He then told us we were ridiculous and walked away. How would you take that if you encountered someone like that?

This makes no sense, he is blind, he wears sunglasses, but he goes around with a flashlight looking for a dog. This man was doing something wrong. I would have called the police.

I know Anna, it was odd but our neighborhood is full of police and their cars sit in the driveways so he would be stupid to try anything here. A lot of people also have cameras on their houses so one got pics of him while he was standing out there talking to us.

Funny thing is that our neighborhood is full of police, anywhere you walk here there is a police car, state patrol, sheriff, deputy etc. If you work for the county here you get a discount on houses in certain areas, ours is one of them.

@cintol That sounds like a gret neighborhood. I wonder what that guy was really up to. Did you call the police and if so what happened?

@cintol Our neighbors are police as well. Funny thing when someone tried to break into the chief's house, it didn't end well for her. By the way he drives his police car home in the evenings.

We have pics of him when he was talking to us as a lot of the neighbors have cameras on their house, we are getting one too but with so many cops in the neighborhood, its a pretty safe one.

Well he came to the wrong neighborhood because our street has two cops on it and there are more on every street, we just have to holler. We have a site that we can post neighborhood things on so we posted about it for the others to be cautious

@cintol Unless he has talents we do not know about then I would wonder about him. I think his method of a lasso is very cruel and the animal organizations should be told about it. What was that about a truck? He did not have to be rude to them.

Right!! Most dog catchers have a truck, he had no vehicle and was on foot. Don't know where he would have put the dog if he actually found it and was able to lasso it.

@cintol So could it be that he was not really a dog catcher at all.

We didn't because our neighborhood is full of them. You can walk down any street and find police cars in lots of the driveways, it has always been a good deterrent for crime here

More like a red flag with this guy. I think if was waving one of those it wouldn't have set off more alarms than he was already. Life is just sometimes weird but hope he wasn't/isn't dangerous.

I don't think so, no one has seen him since and since he is on camera he shouldn't be too hard to spot in this tiny town

He didn't seem to be, he was just a jerk. This is a small town and my daughter is a probation officer here so she is going to call over to the Animal control today and ask if they have a "medically blind" catcher there that uses a lasso! lol

He might have been a dumb criminal, I was hoping to see him find the dog so I could see if he really knew how to use a lasso since he called it a cowboy rope!! I don't know how much he would have gotten away with having no truck, he was purely on foot but he also may have seen all the cop cars throughout the neighborhood as well.
