How do cheaters get caught on MyLot?

Perth, Australia

I have been meaning to ask this for like a million years ( ok slight exaggeration ) But how do people who try to cheat the system on MyLot get caught? I already know that MyLotters can use the Report button if they see anything suspicious / someone violating the rules. I know I sure have! Especially the ones who make an account only to advertise their business. I karate chop that Report button very quickly. "Hiiiiiyah!!!!" And of course messaging Admin on what you see helps too. But are they the only ways cheaters are found out? Or do Admin have their own ways to know before we even know? I was just randomly thinking of a couple MyLotters who have gone then come back. Whether it was because they did something wrong, were forgiven and given another chance. Or they were banned and came back under another name. Do the Admin here know by themselves when people create multiple accounts? When they come back again after being banned? Doing things they shouldn't be doing? etc Or does it just depend on us? Like the whole "See something, say something" kinda deal? Or does Admin have a sneaky way to catch the sneaky?

I karate chop that Report button very quickly. "Hiiiiiyah!!!!" See when you say stuff like that is when I say you express well. Was funny reading (and imagining you doing) that. I think there are ways to track the Ip address that the admins can or probably already do use.

@Daljinder Probably. I wouldn't know. And that's a good suggestion too. I've never thought about it before since it's only me on MyLot. Highly doubt my dad or bro would wanna be here. Which I like. I am glad no family is here to be honest. Feel more....free? Independent? Something.

@VivaLaDani13 Saaaaaame thing! Would feel "watched" all the time if that happened. Better they stay away from here. I talk freely here to an extent. So, would hate to have to watch my thoughts and opinions more closely than required.

@VivaLaDani13 Probably, lock on the computers? But that would need digging deeper. Too complicated. I would just tell or ask admin that this new person is wanting to start here and shares the same home.

I have a pretty deep tool box. Yes, members are a help as well. But I've been doing this for years, so a lot of it is just instinct.

@VivaLaDani13 No, of course not, no worries, it was a perfectly valid question. Just one I am going to answer as vaguely as possible, lol.

@GoAskAlice Thank you for answering my discussion. I really do hope I wasn't taken the wrong way. I didn't mean this as a way of finding out the secrets! Well, I never asked that anyway. I was just curious if we all played a part helping keep certain people away from here as well as wondering if those people got found out without our help.

@VivaLaDani13 I have noticed a couple of them. I could understand it when we had a notation system and no block button here, but I do not see really the interest today, except perhaps to hide from a stalker.

@topffer lol Hey! I NEVER left! I ALWAYS come back. Sometimes due to my own personal issues, I take time away because I don't feel like being social. But I do check in every day to make sure I don't have any notifications. But what I meant by that comment was people who go completely. Like their account / profile disappear but they come back under a new name. And I have been around here a lot lately!

@topffer Yeah I agree. Hiding from a stalker is definitely where both the Report button AND Block button come in handy!

One thing that impresses me greatly about MyLot, and assists in giving hope this site has a long life ahead of it, is that the staff is VERY on top of what goes on here. I have had a couple of posts deleted and I have never complained because I am a big boy and know why, and they are right to do it, and sometimes I TEST them. They succeed every time. And that means the rest of us can rejoice in knowing the site is legit, the staff is legit, and the site should succeed quite well for the long term.

There is a fishing net...with lots of glue ...you spread it...and then stand by side...I pray to almighty that at least one may fall...and get stuck...so that I can report. Some are smart...they wear jackets and remove them...pass through gaping openings of the net...rest...well glue is of quite a good quality. I am serious.

i think mylot shouldn't have any problem creating multiple account. The thing is,a guy must capable to give content and do interact here in mylot either he/she create one or two.account...it doesn't mean that they can earn more maintaining multiple accounts.

The problem with multiple accounts is that one account can interact with the other account and increase the earnings of the account it interacts with. If you want to double your earnings, why not just create twice the amount of quality content in one account?

@PurnaSharma I'm not too sure about the multiple accounts. I have wondered once but not enough for me to find out since I am the only one in my house who is a member on MyLot. And that is true! Good point!

@Aquitaine24 There are a few ways to cheat the system here. People can go against the rules and ask others to continuously answer their posts and force conversations just to keep the earnings going. People can make multiple accounts just so they can talk to themselves. People can copy things from other sites and try to make it look like their own. People can also copy and paste from other MyLotter's posts to try make it look like their own.

JJ would be the one to ask about that. He has a knack for discovering miscreants. I was absent for a while due, not to anything that happened here on myLot, but do to my new job and the demands thereof. I took over the 4th grade at a private school and the teacher who left, left nothing behind in the form of plans, pacing guides, or curriculum documents. I had to recreate all that with minimal guidance and while I was teaching.

@marlina That's good! Me too! I don't use it for newbies who violate the rules once because I like to explain to them first what the rules are. And how to work here. But if they kept doing it over and over when it was explained over and over then they will be in a bit of strife.

When I see many posts from a users, all in broken English and suddenly one that looks good, I perform a "plagiarism check" and 9 times out of 10 the content is copied and pasted. Well, I inform Alex.

Sometimes you can guess someone is running multiple accounts by who they have interactions with, and by a turn of the phrase. Like people saying Pence published anonymously, but the tweet or whatever actually had his pet word "lodestar" in it. I may not be here as much as in the old days so I do not see the interactions as much to catch it.
