An Atheistic Bible Study Of The Gospels The Blind And The Mute

A miracle referred to exclusively by Matthew in 9:27-34. Jesus finds himself being called to by two desperate blind men who refer to him as the Son of David. They have shouted to him from a house they are living in or visiting. Jesus goes in to see them and asks for assurances that they believe in him. They say they do. (they are hardly going to say 'No actually we worship Baal, but will you heal us anyway?') Jesus touches their eyes, without spitting in their faces as he did to help heal another blind man in a previous event. The men are cured and despite Jesus telling them not to inform anyone of the miracle, they run round telling anyone willing to listen. Jesus has barely left their house when a multitude comes before him with a mute man afflicted with a demon. Without demanding an oath of faith or telling the man not to tell anyone he is cured (pointless with so many witnesses anyway), Jesus casts out the demon, and this heals the man's hearing. The audience marvels, except for some Pharisees who are concerned by the demons being cast out by one they consider himself to be a demon. The hint here is that in making his miracle cure claims public,Jesus was helping to engineer the events leading to his arrest and execution himself. I can see the concerned Pharisees' point. The demons are obviously working together...If Jesus is really a demon...and nothing good can come of that.

@xander6464 Jesus a double agent working for Satan - that would be a good one.

@arthurchappell There's another very good book and movie idea...I think it would work as a graphic novel, too.
