I hope no one here in our group lives any where in the path of the hurricane that is going to hit this week. This storm is a category 4 hurricane. If so, I hope you listen to the reporters that are constantly on the news and get out of the way of the storm. Don't take anything for granted. Homes and possessions can be replaced but people cannot. I went through this last year here in Florida and there are still homes and businesses that are not rebuilt yet. Don't be foolish. You are down to the final days to get out. Last year it took us forever to get out of Florida to head to the northeast. It was bumper to bumper for hours and what usually would take about 20 hours ended up two days.

I sure hope that everyone pays attention cause this one could be deadly. I am reading where there are many mandatory evacuations.

There were mandatory ones last year to but quite a few people ignored the warnings. There are still places that have not been repaired yet. This one looks worse than last year.

@velvet53 Yes we are in southern Florida on the east coast. We do have to travel through the area in a few weeks so I hope the roads will be okay then. I have been on some roads after a hurricane and they collapsed and were closed.

We're in NC, right in the path, but we're 90 miles in from the coast, so we're praying we won't have to evacuate. Thank you for warning people.

@1creekgirl Last year with Irma we waited until 2 days before and what a disaster that was. The highways were bumper to bumper going both ways. There were over 100 electric trucks going the opposite way into the hurricane area. Had we left the day before it wouldn't have taken us 2 days to get where we were going into the northeast. We did have damage and it took almost a year to get it all fixed. Good luck to you.

@ramapo17 yes, I saw that it has even caught those inland by surprise. It really was a monster of a storm.

@ramapo17 I also hope the weather stabilizes and there are no more hurricanes or super typhoons this year.

@bluesa Yes it was. At least this year we didn't get it like last year. It started higher than Florida. I hope there are not any more this year.

A hurricane expert on the Weather Channel said it best last night. He said, "Listen folks, this is 2018. Nobody should ever die in a hurricane now. We know five days in advance where these things are going to hit. Get out now while you can." A close friend of mine lives in the coastal area of South Carolina, I called her last night and told her to get in her car and drive down and stay with me until it's all over. She's planning on getting out of there today.

@ramapo17 When I got up this morning, I saw that Florence was down to a Cat-2, with 110 mph winds. I was like, "Shucks, all those people evacuating for that? Hell, 110 mph is nothing for us Floridians; that's like an afternoon thunderstorm to us!"

@moffittjc I have been watching it all day and it looks like it is going to be a total disaster even though it was reduced. It seems so much bigger and the flooding is amazing.

@moffittjc So many people think they can get out of any situation. Those are just crazy people.

They should all be out of there tomorrow or it will be to late and they will regret it. It is better to leave and go back after. We did that last year at the last minute. We had a big one and we were not going to leave. At the last minute we did and what always took two days to get to took 3 days as there were so many people that tried to stay in their homes and changed their minds at the last minute. Traffic was crazy.

@aureliah It was like it again this time. I had the tv on non stop for days and I was up almost all night watching. I know a few people that were in the line of the hurricane. I still haven't heard from my one cousin and his family.

@ramapo17 I can imagine how that can be while everyone is trying to get out of a place

This could get VERY interesting. There are two other hurricanes brewing in the Atlantic behind Florence. (Isaac and Helene) and there is one more brewing in the Pacific, (Olivia) and she's heading toward Hawaii.

That hurricane must had been devastator. Better to stay safe by moving out of the way of hurricane's approaching. However everyone doesn't have the option to move.

Where I live if people cannot go any place there are very study cement buildings where people can go in most of the towns. I don't know if all the states have places like this though.

I only see hurricanes in movies. We have typhoons here but I don't think it's anywhere near the hurricanes you get there. I saw the movie characters go underground. So this is for real? I mean, with such kind, it makes sense to leave the path of the hurricane. And better do it the soonest possible time.
