It is amazing and probably the only date that almost everyone that was living back in 9/11 remember exactly what they were doing at the exact time when the planes hit New York City.
I remember what I was doing and the exact spot I was sitting in at work that horrible morning. I worked only 45 minutes from where that all happened.
My son was driving his car through the Lincoln tunnel at the time the second plane hit and he said he was scared the tunnel was going to collapse. At that time he was living in New York City and working in New Jersey. For over a week after he could not take his car back into the city. He stayed in New Jersey until then.
A man I worked with lost his wife as she worked in the towers. So many stories and such chaos for a long time after. I hope we never see anything like that again.

The towers were struck on a Tuesday morning. I was in the towers on the Sunday before, but had flown back home to Florida that Monday afternoon. I was in total shock on Tuesday morning when the news stories broke, given that I had literally just been there. I was the project manager for a large upscale mall development. We had about 300 construction workers gathered around a tiny little battery-powered TV inside a half-built mall. It was surreal. We shut down construction for the rest of the week, because paranoia set in and the police wanted to background check every construction worker before allowing them to resume work on the mall. It was crazy.

I hope we don't either. It was the worst day I can remember. The scenes on television were horrific. I remember where I was when it happened and where I was when I learned about it. I didn't have the TV on that morning. I was home, in my office, working on a book. Nothing new there. I found out about it when I went to work that afternoon. That's when I saw the pictures for the first time on the TV in the breakroom. I couldn't believe what I was seeing. I don't think I turned the TV off at all for the next several weeks. It was eerie not to see a plane fly overhead for three weeks until the FAA gave the okay for air travel again.

@ramapo17 Yes,we in India watched it on TV. My younger brother was preparing for his final exams and my mother rushed in and told us about it.We immediately switched on the TV. We will also never forget the terrorist attacks on our parliament in 2001 and on Mumbai in 2008.

@Shivram59 Things like that happen all over the world. Why can't people get along or just leave others alone?

@ramapo17 There are people who try to "impose" themselves on others.

Hubby had a day off - so we slept in. I was so mad that my friend called and gave us a wake up call in hysterics that a plane crashed into the Twin Towers. As she often exaggerates and freaks out, I couldn't really take her seriously as she kept saying a war was going to start. But then I turned on the news - and I could not believe the footage - it certainly was no exaggeration . We were in CA - I can only imagine how it must've been to be there or in the surrounding areas!

I know what you mean. Living as close to it as I did at the time, it was great to see so many people jumping in to help each other.

It's too big and dark of an incident to comprehend.
