I remember this day well. I was getting ready to open the craft store I was managing at the time when one of the employees knocked frantically at the locked front door. Rushing in she kept saying turn on the TV, turn on the TV. I turned on the TV as she stood there with tears rolling down her face. The whole tragic happening was there on the screen. The first tower had been hit and they were recording what was happening. As we stood there watching, the second tower was hit. It was a tragic day. Many people were killed and maimed. We couldn't believe what was happening. The next thing we knew they were announcing that an airplane was hijacked and headed towards Washington DC. It crashed into the Pentagon. The death total was unbelievable high. We were all in shock. It was a day that I will never forget. Many people lost family and friends on that day.

It was an unforgettable day. I didn't learn about it until I got to work and I thought someone was joking with me until I saw the TV in the break room and I couldn't believe what I was watching. It was horrific.

We were blessed as my oldest cousin had graduated college and was going to an interview in one of the towers. She was called and told to come on a different day.

I was at work at the health department, when a co-worker came running into our office and said a plan had hit the twin towers. We scrambled around trying to find a TV to turn on. We all just hugged and cried. It was so scary, wondering what would happen next. So tragic for so many.

My future daughter-in-law borrowed her friend's sneakers around 8:15 in one of the towers and left. Her friend didn't make it. Our son began his job in NYC the day before and was training on the IBM computer in the Citi Corps building. He saw the entire thing.

How sad. I am glad to hear that your daughter-in-law left when she did. It must have been terrifying for all of you know your son was in the area. I am sure it is a day that none of you will ever foget.

@HazySue That must be a very hard day for people there that remember it. I was living in Jerusalem and do not remember what I was doing that day. You never forget tragedies like that. We know here in Israel because all that we have gone through how hard a day that was for you.

@HazySue We can very much relate to that here in Israel. It never leaves you and gives you a bad feeling inside. I remember when we had our 2nd intifadi when they were blowing up our buses one of my buses I used to take was one of them and I would not get on that bus for a long time. I would walk instead. It is very hard but you have to get back to as normal as can be to show them they did not win. We have many memories here in Israel.

I live in England and the 9/11 news was the most terrible news ever. So many people lost their lives. Some British newspapers sold copies with photos of jumpers from the burning tower. I was teaching a class of children and I joined with them to remember this tragic day. In November 2001 I travelled to Los Angeles and security was understandably tight.

I was at school when it happened. I found out when I took the bus, from the bus driver. I got home. When I got home, my parents wanted to talk, but I kind of guessed what it was about. I remember the look of their faces', especially my dad's. He studied in NYC as a grad student. So, I don't think it was easy. It's sad to just think of what happened.

I was a receptionist at the Childrens' Treatment Centre at that time. I had the tv on over in the waiting area with a morning show-something that parents of severely handicapped children seldom have the luxury of sitting down to watch. As soon as I realized what was going on, I disconnected the television and put video movies in the VCR for the remainder of that day. The very last thing parents of children like this is more stress, and their kids would have picked up on that stress and fear. I was later praised for my fast-thinking on that action as it probably changed the outcome of the day for many of our clients. God bless all of those who grieve still.

I remember the day when someone from the office in the Assisted Living facility I was working as a aide/Med tech in turned the big screen TV in the sitting area next to the dining room where residents were eating breakfast and I was doing the morning med pas when I saw the replaying of the first tower being hit. I can remember one of the residents who was a retired Navy captain from WW2 and Korean wars saying over and over even though he had Alzheimer's "We're at war" over and over and it a difficult to pull him away from that TV to toilrt him or get him back to the dining area for lunch.

It did look as though we were at war. It was a shock and a totally unnecessary action on the terrorist part. It effect many people and made some of them come to realize that the world was a dangerous place. It went a long way towards teaching us not to trust others.
