Hurricane Florence: Hope we're more ready than not

The latest forecast seems to put the landfall a little farther south of us, but we're still in the target area. We've prepared as much as we can. We have non-perishable food, water, flash lights and batteries, a generator, gas in the cars and extra for the generator, medicine refills, cat food and water, packed up photo albums and other things, and have important documents in a water and fire proof safe. I felt like we had enough supplies, but you know how it is...you wonder if you need just a few more things. So I went to the nearest town to our Food Lion and picked up more bread, chips, and found a case of water. Walmart was out of a lot of things, as was our local Piggly Wiggly grocery store. But no one seemed in a panic and there weren't any fights over bread, thank goodness! If it gets too bad, we'll go to our friend's house just down the road. She's still in Mass, but we can stay at her home. It's an older house, but very sturdy and is on a hill which would help if we get flooded. I'm hoping we can convince our son and grandson to come stay with us. The city they live in tends to flood. Our granddaughter has left Wilmington to stay with a friend in Charlotte, our great granddaughter and her family are at a relatives house (they live in Wilmington, too), and our daughter and her family have left Charleston for a motel in Georgia. So, we're still praying God will turn this monster named Florence back out to sea. But if he doesn't, we're doing all we can and trusting in his protection and mercy. Hope all of you will be safe if you're in the path of the hurricane.
