This hurricane is already causing problems!

No, we haven't gotten any rain or wind from Florence yet, but the knowledge that a monster is ready to attack can tear your nerves up!
I think we're as prepared as we can be, but you never know. We're not planning to evacuate (we're 90 miles inland from the ocean), but flooding will probably be the worst part.
When I get stressed, my IBS kicks in like a spoiled brat. I can't eat a lot at one time, I have to eat small amounts. But it can't be certain foods, only what the brat will tolerate. Can't go too long without eating, but heaven help me if I eat too soon.
And forget about taking a vitamin or any kind of pill without a little of the right kind of food first. I ate a marshmallow...ONE marshmallow...one time and was in pain for two days. But at other times, marshmallows are no problem.
That's what I mean about my gut being a spoiled, rotten brat. I want to just yell at it, "Stop it!! Woman up!! Stop being so particular and so easily offended!"
Anyway, once the hurricane is gone, maybe I can settle down. If we're not cleaning up after a disaster, that is.

I get like that when we are awaiting a blizzard.
We don't get them as regularly as hurricanes occur, but they are nerve-wracking just the same.
I hope that you can focus on the necessities and that you have everything in or protected outside that should be. And maybe that will keep you busy and allow you to settle down a bit and then maybe feel better.
Please be safe.

@1creekgirl No, I realize that you don't get blizzards, we don't either, but we do get snowstorms and our world completely grinds to a halt when that happens. And to make matters worse, trucks aren't on the roads shipping in goods to the grocery stores-so you have to stay stocked up on what you can that isn't perishable, and then run out and stock up on dairy, bread and vegetables when a storm is on the horizon.

Thanks for the encouragement. We don't usually get blizzards here...everyone rushes out to buy bread and milk at the first snowflake!

Yes, I am so thankful to God. But there's still a lot of potential for flooding and tornadoes in our area.

Wow, that's terrible! I sure hope your system settles down sooner rather than later.
I have some digestive issues that are certainly made worse when I'm stressed, so I understand to some extent.
Wishing you and yours safety and peace of mind, as much as possible.

Sometimes I think the powers that be shouldn't start telling us about storms like Florence when they are still a couple of thousands of miles away across the Atlantic. All it does is cause our anxiety to build for that much longer.

I pray you and your family will be safe in the typhoon. IBS is Irritable bowel syndrome and although it won't kill you, it feels like it sometimes! Basically, sensitive gut.
