i was scrolling through pixabay (a free-to-use image site) to look for pictures of wet streets with scattered leaves, twigs and branches. i wanted to give an idea of the scene we woke up to here in our neighborhood. but when i saw these flowers, i changed my mind and downloaded them. then i decide to make a quick collage as well using befunky.com. you know what, i still don't know what these flowers are called in filipino or english. and i'm still unsure whether to call them pink or purple. haha! there are also white variants of these flowers, though. anyway, i've always liked these small simple flowers, even if some see them more like weeds/grass (damo) because they tend to grow anywhere. they will sprout among other plants in a bed or a pot, and even through cracks on the wall or pavement. if you have these flowers where you live, what are they called and in what colors?

i think they're just ordinary commonplace flowers that no one really plants or cares for, but they still make me smile when i see them sprouting anywhere.

I don't know if I am correct but I think we call those as chichirika. My mother has orange and yellow and of course those violet ones. Now, it's only the orange ones that I saw.

you know what, i never thought to smell them. i guess i always assumed they're "scentless" like gumamela (hibiscus) and santan (ixora coccinea), unlike when you see sampaguita, you instinctively lean over to take a whiff. do they grow there, too?
