Religion conversion, why?

I recently met a friend who has converted from Christianity to Buddhism. The reason for her conversion is her aunt who is a Christian said that her partner has to be a Christian if they ever planning to marry. Ironically, her parents are not persistent on this belief. Is it true? Anyway, she had converted to Buddhism and stayed single.

I don't know what the rules are in your country. In Germany, you can marry whoever you like in a civil ceremony. Yet, if you also want to have a Christian ceremony in a church, both partners have to be Christians.

Actually it is always proposed if a Christian in one Faith wants to marry someone it is always advised that they be the same religion as it helps keep the marriage together. But not always does someone do this and it could create problems. For me it was Best mine was when we married

are you saying your friend and her parents and aunt are christians, but your friend has a boyfriend/fiance who is not christian? so they broke up since they cannot get married in church, she converted to buddhism and chose to stay single? why did she not convert to his religion? or just have a civil/legal ceremony?
