Hi mylotters. In India there are so many taxes being levied ie service tax, CGST, SGST etc while you visit a hotel or food court. I personally don't give much tip, 10-20% I guess as it is service tax is mentioned in the bill. What's the situation at your end? How much tip you give while visiting a hotel or restaurant? Do share.

Nothing. I don't feel the need to. Hotel prep and care is, to my mind, a part of the price I pay for the room. If they go the extra mile? Maybe. But this is what I pay for when I rent a room. Service. The only time I have tipped is when traveling abroad. But part of that is because I know the pay is usually very low for those people.

My family don't give tips because it is not allowed but to the housekeepers they did, but I don't know how much.

Recently we stayed at a hotel and was impressed with the hospitality of the staff. We tipped them generously before leaving.
