I changed mine once. Before this one of myself smiling holding a calico cat I used a similar one but I was not smiling. I changed to have a friendlier looking avatar.

I changed from an albino peacock to my current one.
Caramello is a 'friend' of mine and I noticed that she has changed hers quite a few times.
Maybe she is not happy with her avatar, and needs to settle on the right one to make her happy with it.

I have changed mine a few times...Right now I have this one as Tis the Season to be Jolly.. I will change it again after Christmas. I usually use a Cat picture since my user name is CatVegas...Hope you have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year...

Funny how there are so many different reasons for having or changing one's avatar ranging from cosmetic to idealistic!
I think mine verges on idealistic, but I do have an empathy with the Eagle...fascinating birds!

Only twice so far but I plan to change it again before too long.
My first avatar was a static picture of a pirate because I could not find an animated image that would work properly. Then I changed it to an animated hour glass and then to my current one.
I am planning to use an animated Santa for a couple of weeks over Christmas, after which I will probably try something different.
