Diary Sunday 16th September 2018 A busy but lovely day attending a pirate wedding on a real sailing ship, The Zebu, docked in Liverpool's Albert Dock. As the wedding started at 9.15am I had to be up at 5am for a long bus ride to get there. I slept through much of the ride, and got into my pirate outfit in a pub, before taking pub sign photos on route to the ship. I met with other guests and the bride before the wedding, conducted by a Pasta-farian pirate priest of the church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster (not making this up). After photos we had breakfast in a local pub, which had great beer and food but frankly awful service. The staff offered to put people's non-wedding clothes in a safe place only to then forget where they had moved things too and proved indifferent to finding lots of bags, coats, etc. We eventually found them. We joined in the annual pirate parade which involved pirates escorting a mermaid round the dock before releasing her into the water in a conch shell boat. We then went on to another bar for a fabulous reception and buffet before myself and many other guests had to leave for the last public transport home. Diary Monday 17th September 2018 A day of voluntary work, the first of four this week, promoting the One In Four Mental Health related movie festival to the new students at the university. I got home, chatted with my mum on the phone and edited my own wedding photos from yesterday. Video of the pirate parade - I'm on about 2.07, the bride about 1.44 Arthur Chappell

I normally don't go to weddings but one like that, I would consider attending.

@arthurchappell It looked quite fun. I've only watched most of the first video so far...FaceBook cut if off towards the end, so I'll try again later...but what I saw looked good.

The day of pirating must have been quite a lot of fun. I have a friend who does pirate re-enactments and would have loved to participate.

@arthurchappell I don't know if he travels overseas anymore, but I will ask him if he's familiar with the parade.

What a great idea. And I would have loved to have seen the conch-shell boat.

A wedding on a ship would be awesome to attend. The reception sounded great too. Bars are usually a must too lol. Pirates and ships make for interesting stories.
