Another Crazy Laguna Beach Sculpture

Laguna Woods, California

This is one of my favorite sculptures in Laguna Beach ... although there are several I could call my favorites. It is next to the path on which winds along Cliff Drive in Laguna, overlooking the ocean. I always think it looks like Dr. Seuss created it, although there is no plaque or description that I have seen. What do you think?

It is an interesting sculpture. Here in Daytona Beach Florida I found dolphins swimming in a concrete sea.

@Hannihar - I love dolphins, too. Just seeing them in the ocean makes me smile! I don't know why my image is no longer showing at the top of the page. I will try to put it here.

@Hannihar - I put it back on the top of the page. I hope the picture stays this time. I don't know why it disappeared!

@DeborahDiane I am glad you put it back up there. It is shame that it went down.

I am ignorant and ill-informed and don't know who Dr. Seuss is.I guess this sculpture is an abstract work.

@DeborahDiane Thank you for explaining it to me ! It seems that his name is known to every family there. He is a really versatile author and those pictures add appeal to his stories.

@changjiangzhibin89 - Yes, American children grow up having Dr. Seuss books read to them ... but I think it is the parents who secretly love the stores!

Oh, you are definitely not ignorant or ill-informed. Dr. Seuss is the author of many popular children's books in the United States. He was an artist who created fantastic pictures to go with his stories. One of the best known is "How the Grinch Stole Christmas." I attached a picture of the Grinch, so you can see how he would create unusual creatures to go with his stories.

It could very well be something he did. It is different.

@JudyEv - I love seeing these types of works, too. You never quite know what they are supposed to be, so you can just use your own imagination!
