Most people already know that if you want some of the very best chili you should go to the state of Texas. Chili Con Carne has become the official state dish. It also originated in The Lone Star State and is now a very popular tailgating dish. For those of you who don’t know this term tailgating is when someone hosts or attends a social gathering where a meal is served from the back of a parked truck usually in the parking lot of a sports stadium. The state of Utah has come up with an amazing fry sauce. It was made popular by a burger chain known as Arctic Circle. The sauce is a delicious combination of ketchup and mayonnaise. If you love sweet things and particularly maple syrup then your best source is the state of Vermont. The maple tree is the state tree. This is the Green Mountain State and it is well known for its maple syrup. People who reside in this state know that a delicious treat is maple syrup drizzled on top of the snow. The town of Smithfield in Virginia is known for their ham. The dry salt-cured, smoked and aged ham is known as Smithfield Ham. Any of your favorites here?

I understand China has responded to Trump's latest tariffs with some of their own, including on honey--why would we be getting honey from China????

@GreatMartin that is the best question. I certainly would not purchase honey from China. It seems most everything these days is made in China.

I do love chili but have never been to Texas to try it there. I love burgers but also haven't tried the Artic Circle but their delicious sauce is something I've made at home a million times over. My kids always loved it growing up and it's so simple to mix ketchup with mayo. I'd love to try some Vermont maple syrup I'm sure Smithfield Ham is delicious too.

I haven't found a chili outside of Wisconsin that I like. I guess I'm biased that way. I love Vermont Maple Syrup. Yum!

@RasmaSandra The way I grew up with it has noodles in it. I didn't know it didn't have noodles in it when I ordered the first time at the base in San Diego when I was in the Navy. I never ordered it again, but made my own.
