Hail Mary in the News

I respect 'the Virgin Mary' address made by the Catholics. 'Hail Mary' was based on the greetings of angel Gabriel and Elizabeth about Mary. Hebrew writer, Luke, wrote about the encounter from Luke 1:42 of the Bible. 2000+ years later, 'A Hail Mary' effort evolved into a figure of speech. A cliche to describe an idea or an action, you or I might have done over the years to (desperately) change the outcome of a foreseeable event that we didn't want to happen. About three weeks ago, I cut up my VISA credit card. Finally! I had contemplated real hard. Nervously. I tried to reason out with what-if-I-need-VISA-for-emergency excuse from cutting up the accursed thing. Well, this heroic last-ditch-effort of mine, finally, came to fruition. I ditched my VISA credit card before the 2 1/2 years expiry date. My goal? To be totally debt-free after paying off all debts we had accumulated over the years. Our excuse, of course, was, "We had school-aged kids who were going to Uni". The truth is, we were out of control and were dependent on banks to get the stuff in advance; instead of saving up for the stuff. I've never felt so financially free in my entire life! That kind of 'A Hail Mary' effort was a good thing. Because the prayer-with-action was to save us so we can move on towards a better situation-- eventually-- with my husband and children. So, that's my personal news. But there are bad kind of "Hail Mary" ditching efforts displayed everywhere in the news. Such as, in the Florence hurricane news reporting-- focused on the horrifying, death-defying-amidst-the-chaos pretend heroic reporters. And then, in the background, people walking relaxed and calmed as if their work of helping and rescuing were mission-accomplished for that day. Another, Hail-Mary ditching theatrics surrounding the SCOTUS nomination of Kavanaugh. The Hail Mary black Spartacus' and their minions' efforts to claim spartacism, under the toga of bravery, to save pro-abortionists and reliving Hitler and Nazism in the un-salaried POTUS's job as US President for trying to save America from the last 8 years empire? Have you had so many 'last ditching efforts' in your life? Some kind of 'Hail Mary' strategies to change the outcome, good or bad, the acclaimed Hail Maryers, (including me), want to divert from happening? What are your intentions?

I'd rather say "Hail Mary" with reverence because Mary is the mother of my Lord and Savior. Moreover, "Hail Mary" is a prayer with power in it. In India, where Christians are an insignificant minority, even Hindoos, when they see a statue of Mary, instantly touch their forehead and chest, as a sign of reverence. Quite many wear the holy rosary around their neck.

I'm sorry. I did not mean to offend. Yes, as a Christian, I agree that she was the mother of the Lord Jesus Christ. I believe that with reverence.

We have a Visa card and use it for just about everything. But we also pay it off in full at the end of each month. We make sure it works for us rather than against us. It wasn't always this way of course but our children are adult now and there is just the two of us.

I am Italian and Roman Catholic, "Hail Mary, full of grace..." is one of the most important prayers for me, asking for the intercession of the mother of Jesus. I have a VISA card that I use because it is safer than bringing cash in my purse. I pay in full every end of month.
