I am always looking out photographic opportunities for Vince, my husband, as often he simply won’t see something that I think would make a great photo . So I have taken on the role of making sure he knows about a potential subject.
I know many myLotters are keen on the natural world and the living things that inhabit it. I thought you might be interested in a photo of moth I saw the other day. I found it clinging to a rope of twinkly lights after our last concert so I carefully transferred it to a twig and called Vince.
I don’t know what sort it is but it is very furry, also like velvet. Can you see the fan-like structures that are its feelers and the banded legs? It looks like it has football socks on.

I think this is what we call "mariposa" a big kind of beautiful butterfly. So majestic to see.

He was certainly a big moth. 'Mariposa' sounds a nice word.

Sometimes it relates also to fairies.

That is a very unusual looking moth. They don't have them in these parts. I almost got the photo of a deer yesterday standing close to the car..but of course as I was trying to get a closer shot..he skampered off.

You certainly have eyes that discern beauty. Undoubtedly you both are made for each other.

You captured a beautiful picture of that moth and he does look very velvety. I've never seen anything like this moth just the typical ones who flutter around the outside light at night.

I don't often see unusual ones either but this one was very big compared to most I see.
