FOOD SUPPLEMENTS: Do we really need one?

Aside from the regular vitamins and minerals, a lot of food supplements are now in the market. Each product has their own promises of health benefits that would improve a person’s overall well being. Though, manufactures have this reminder that the product has no approved therapeutic claim and remind people that it can’t be use as substitute for the person’s regular medicine. I have tried of these products but I can’t really say if it has an effect on me. I can’t also stand on drinking those most of the time especially in capsule or tablet form as I will be having a difficulty of swallowing it aside from the fact that it’s an additional expense. I remember one doctor I had consultation before, he prescribed some supplement in aid of my regular medication and that supplement can be bought at his clinic or from the pharmacy he me have tie with. Do you think that food supplements are helpful to us?

Does it help? I have other doctor who is not a fan of vitamins. He would never recommend any to his patients.

@ZedSmart It definitely halts the cough/cold or speeds up the healing.

That is also the supplement I take daily. It helps prevent colds and cough. I can attest to that at work where most of them has cough and colds.

There are specific food supplements that are good but not all are. I do take one like the non acidic vit c which provides me a good immune system. My workplace is usually very cold most of my office mates would usually get colds or cough but I do not easily get sick. I believe it to be due to my food supplement I am taking.

@Mavic123456 Yes, it should be a top priority. Our body is the most important asset we have.

That's good because it's natural.

Unless the doctors recommend it, it's just really something you should think twice about.

Yes, I believe they are very helpful and the scientists should put more effort on this matter than synthetic. It has been said that fruits and vegetables are nutrition food, leaves/plants are herbal medicines that were used long time ago.

I think we should take those naturally without relying so much with processed ones.

Food supplements are only adviced by the doctors in for the person who can't get it from foods ..it's always best get vitamins from direct foods . That is safe and healthy

That's right. If we are sure of what we eat, I think it's not necessary to take.
