The Missus and I both are off to work today

At least we are beginning today with some small semblance of normalcy. AND: It isn't raining. In fact, the sun is shining for the first morning in a week. As I am technically going in on a voluntary basis since we'll have to make up these days at the end of the year, I won't be staying a full day. I could opt to stay home. After being stuck in this house all summer recovering from hip surgery and then for 4 days during the storm, staying home doesn't hold much appeal for me. I will be able to get a lot of preparation and planning done today. That is the plus side of going in to the school. If all goes well around the county today, we may open for classes tomorrow. I dearly hope so. I hope your day, wherever you are, will be a good one. What are your plans for this Tuesday?

Glad you can get out for a little bit and things are improving a lot. We are just going to the auction

Did you find any good buys at the auction?

I hope the sun keeps shining. We had about fifteen minutes of rain yesterday but the rest of the day was pretty sunny. When I took Harley out this morning it was only seventy four. So that was a nice change. I doubt it'll stay that cool all day..

I was hoping for a cool day or two in the wake of Florence but Mother Nature had other ideas and the temperature is going up, not down.

@DWDavis it was cooler yesterday. I hope it's not too hot tonight when I go into work.

@thislittlepennyearns I am ready for some cooler temperatures. Looking forward to stepping out the door and feeling a cool breeze instead of warm muggy air.

I hope the paperwork gets cleared up soon. I know what a hassle that can be.

I hope the weather stays nice for you. It must be a bit of a pain having to make the lost days later in the year.

@JudyEv We seem to get hit every other year with missed days. Last year we had very few and were able to make them up by skipping a Teacher Workday and Presidents Day.

We would have been done school before Memorial Day at the end of May. Now, we will have to go to school at least 4 days after that. We are all hoping there will be no more storms, tropical or snow.

@DWDavis I guess some years a lot of days could be spent as non-school days so it needs to be made up somewhere. Our climate is such that missing days because of bad weather would be few and far between.

I am glad to know that things are getting back to normal. Our prayers are with people out there and hope things go well. As a teacher I can fully understand that it is tough to make up for lost days at the end.

Things are starting to return to normal for most people. For those who got flooded during the storm or are being flooded as the rivers crest, normal may be a long time coming.

I can imagine you want to try to get back to life as usual. Sun is shining here but I don't think it is going to last. Not certain what the day holds..but at least it doesn't hold..going to the vet..something I was dreading beyond belief!

We had a lot of sunshine today and then a rain shower in the afternoon. Normal may be a little longer in coming, but it is on its way.

Normalcy helps the road to recovery more than anything, in my opinion. We're such creatures of habit that I think part of the emotional trauma of an event like that is the disruption of the routines, so re-establishing the routines says "it's getting better."

I know it will take the kids the rest of this week to get back into school mode.

I hate when we miss school due to weather stuff. I never want extra days added on at the end.

We are all hoping now that we have no snow days this winter. We are opening tomorrow. Some schools around here won't open until next week.
