What Went Wrong?

Since I am old school, maybe you all can help me to understand something. Twenty years ago, if you were in pain and went to the doctor he gave you something that would knock pain out. I was given medicine that no matter where you hurt it took care of it. I might sound a little crazy here, but they were the best pain relieving pills ever. When I was having back pain, he said he couldn't prescribe them anymore. unless I go to a pain clinic, so now what works I can't have. I just can't figure out what happened. I know we hear a lot about opioid crisis, but it sure makes it hard for you when you can't get what will really help. I mean ain't no junkie, but it's hard to get what works.

You are right, it is the opiod crisis. I go to a pain management clinic because my main doctor got tired of all the paperwork you have to fill out when you prescribe narcotics. Now, almost every primary physician sends you to pain management where all they do is prescribe pain pills. It's nuts. Doctors are getting in trouble when patients overdose on pain meds so I guess I can't blame them, but it sure is annoying.

This is so sad, but I guess they have to do what they have to, and so many suffer because of it.

It seems that you have a problem with the prescription of meds in the US I hope your pain goes away.

It's a really big problem, people can't get the medication they know that will work, you have to go through a lot of changes, and you still don't get it.

@popciclecold It is a shame. It happened here with cough meds some years ago. After junkies discovered that they could get high with them, all cough meds needed to be prescribed by a doctor. We ended up using honey and lemon. Not enough for a big cough

Sounds ridiculous that you can't get what works but they will give you what doesn't work.

At that time we knew nothing of opioid users, in fact it was unheard of. Back then you be in pain, go to the doctor got pain medicine, pain stopped end of story. Maybe, all i know is what I got then can't get now.

The funny thing, in a sad way, is that "pain clinics" are being shut down left and right for over-prescribing opioids. So what's someone supposed to do?
