saw a black snake today

I went to get the mail this afternoon and I almost stepped on a black snake he was right in my walking path. I am not afraid of snakes..but it startled me. Snakes in general do more good than harm..They eat rodents and so forth, so they are fine with me. This must have really booked it out of there though because when I came back from the mailbox it was gone. Now, if I had seen a copperhead I would have been a little more concerned. Do you ever see snakes? I seem to see one every summer. One summer, I think I told this before..my cat hissed at something..the window was open..and a small snake was wrapped around the adirondack chair on the porch..he had his head going towards the window!! Thank goodness the screen was there. My friend got rid of it. He said "Don't touch it honey." Like I was going to..lol.

Snakes, I don't like them. Harmless or not, I don't like them.
I think I've heard somewhere that snakes are more afraid of us than we are of them, or maybe it was some other critter I had heard this about.
I think the only time I am not afraid of snakes is when they are in my dreams, and even then sometimes I am quite afraid of them.

I feel that way about mice and rats..Although thankfully, I haven't seen any rats around here. I do see a stray mouse from time to time..but none have ever gotten in here that I am aware of anyway. I would freak out if I saw one in the house.

@snowy22315 We have a trap set up in the house. A family member came to my bedroom door yesterday and told me "There was a rat in that trap, had been there for atleast two days."
I was.. I was glad I didn't know that because I had sat in front of where the trap was earlier that same day, and the day before.

I am more afraid of snakes then anything else on this earth!
Poisonous or not, they frighten me and I hate thinking of them or seeing one of them.
Thankfully we no longer see them now that we live in the city, but before we moved we saw them too much for my liking.

I don't see them often..they are just another of God's creatures to me. If I don't bother them, they aren't going to bother me.

Just another inhabitant of the area..one time when I was swimming..one was beside me a bit off in the distance. It was a baby snake though. Again, alittle startling, but not really scary.

Yes, we don't have that many poisonous snakes here. They are more likely not to be..but we do have two snakes that look alike, one is somewhat poisonous and one is not. Copperheads and corn snakes look similar but corn snakes are non toxic.
