Marcus DiPaola is being credited for using the power of social media to report the heroic rescue of six dogs that were outside cages in a home in Leland North Carolina during Hurricane Florence that has caused disaster and heartbreak in the Carolinas region. Ryan Nichols who is from Longview Texas was seen freeing the six dogs that were up to their waist from the flood waters who were in danger of drowning. Nichols who is on a volunteer mission was able to release the six dogs by walking through knee deep water on Sunday. The problem with having natural disasters like flood is that the owners of pets do not bring them when they evacuate from their homes.

That was one of the things that I worried about when I thought I was going to have to evacuate. I had different people that would tell me I could stay at their home. A couple of the offers I declined because I was not leaving my dog behind. I feel for some people that have to to leave their pets. When they say you have to evacuate, but the you can't bring your pet to the storm shelter, what do they expect these people to do.It would be nice if they had places set up that could house pets during these times.

That is one concern I have dealing with going to another place if my cats and dog to a shelter or motel if they were not allowed there.

@Deepizzaguy Not everyone leaves their pets behind. That is sad for those that do not bring their pets with them. My friend when she left made sure she took her cats with her. Thank you for saving the dogs.

I agree with you since I am sure the person who owns the pets was hoping that someone would save them.

@Hannihar They are probably going to be taken to animal shelters by the volunteers in the area.

Me too since I cannot see if I were a volunteer let dogs drown in a flood either.

Animals must have a very tough time of it when there is a natural disaster. Those were lucky dogs.

They were really were lucky since they could have drowned had Ryan not rescued them.

I saw that on the news @deepizzaguy and it makes me maddern' hell when people; who have plenty of warning to evacuate; don't load up their animals and get out!!!!!!!! Those dogs would have surely drowned if that guy wouldn't have been there to help. They should remove those dogs permanently from whoever owns them.

Those dogs owe it all to Ryan.
