Well I think I'm in a pickle!
I think my heat pump is about shot! I stepped outside and it was making a very loud sound. It sound was so loud that when I shut it off, my neighbor clear across the road called to see if something was wrong. Their house, I know has to be over 300 feet from my house, so you know it had to be loud.
I think it's about to go out, the unit is very old and needs to be replaced. My trouble is, I just can't afford a new one right now. I'm sitting here now wondering what in the world I'm going to do. It wouldn't be so bad if it didn't get so hot here. If the temp. outside reaches even the high 80's outside, it gets so hot in my house you can't stand it in here without the air conditioner running.

Oh my goodness, this happened to us a few years ago. But I will never have a heat pump again, it ran all the time. Of course it depends on where you live. I hope you can figure something out, I cannot tolerate the heat. With your unit being 25 years, you have gotten a long run out of it. I know that doesn't help your feelings right now. Hoping for cool air coming your way real soon... like now!!

I had that problem with my air conditioner. Only I couldn't afford to even think of running it as it would cost about $50 a day to run it here in California. I got busy and did some research and contacted some agencies that help low income people (I'm on disability) and the next thing I knew I was getting a new swamp cooler and a new water heater and other things I needed desperately. I would contact your local social services and see if they know of any program that could help you out...they are out there. You shouldn't be living like this! My boyfriend's air conditioner will sound like yours periodically and I'm sure we're headed to the moon! I worry about it a lot because it was sparks from the power pole that set my house on fire and burned it to the ground 11 months ago. You need to be careful with the cooler you have now and see what help you can get! Please PLEASE be careful!

That you, I think I will look it up and see if I can find out anything. Yea, that is my problem, I also am on a fixed income and it's just enough to get by each month on.

@BearArtistLady Sorry to hear your in pain like that. I searched all day yesterday and even called a few places. So far I have had no luck. I'm going to keep trying though, I'm not going to give up. Anything that you can find would be great, the state I'm in is SC.

@sweetashoney you sound like you live in my part of California. Check with your senior center. They may have some clue. Also if you're on disability like I am there may be more options. I'll do some research in the morning, I had injections in my head and neck and feel like I had a hippo sit on my head and try to hatch it. To say I've felt better is putting it mildly! I feel horrible and more! I'm in bed and hoping sleep will help. Talk to you tomorrow, hugs, Toni
