The Monster is going to come help get the Man Cave ready for football

My mother texted me this morning and said she would come tomorrow to help clean the basement. We are having people over on Sunday to eat, drink, and be merry for NFL football. I have enough to deal with tomorrow between the gym, grocery shopping, and getting all of the food ready. I was going to leave getting the basement ready to my husband. Apparently my mother doesn't trust either my husband or me to get it clean enough for guests. . . even though it is never really dirty because no one other than my husband has been down there in months. So my mom is showing up at 11 am tomorrow--after my workout and after I do the grocery shopping. We will do a thorough cleanup of the basement. THEN I will be able to start prepping food for the party. It is going to be a long day.

I've said less flattering words about my own mother on occasion! lol But I'm surprised she said it about her own mother and not about the MIL. Usually it's the mother-in-laws that are described with such adjectives!

It is a nickname that an old boyfriend gave her.

I think she just wants an excuse to check out the man cave and socialize a bit. Sounds like fun, actually. I'm TRYING to get interested in NFL football again. I know it's one of my manly duties. But my interest has been waning in recent years.

@andriaperry I actually enjoy it, once the game starts. But I'm not into the hype, and I don't care as much as I used to about who wins.

I don't particularly care for any one team but I like having everyone here eating my food and having fun.

There must be women planning on attending the NFL party on Sunday, because if it were just men, there would be absolutely no reason to clean the man cave! lol

@NJChicaa Man reasoning: why clean, it's just going to get dirty again! lol When I was little, I used to argue with my mom every morning about making my bed..."But mom, I'm just going to mess it up again tonight when I go to sleep, so why should I have to make the bed every morning?" My strategy fell on deaf ears and never worked....

@moffittjc My husband makes his side of the bed every morning. My side remains unmade.

If it were me, I'd let my mother do the cleaning while I was grocery shopping. That way I get to remark on what a half assed job she did.

My mother never does a half-assed job. She makes me clean things like screens that I never would think of cleaning. I won't let her work on my house while I'm not here. That's just not my style.
