One Thing I Miss: FISHING

When I was a kid, I used to go on fishing with my father. It’s in the former place we lived. It’s just a small village and there are several fishponds near the area. It’s a saltwater pond. The fishponds owner allows people to fish but warn fishers to do not catch the variety of fish they have grown for commerce. I have so much fun especially if I caught plenty of fish. I’m a bit disgusted to the prawns because they were such a nuisance and would love to play bait. Sometimes, they were caught accidentally. If I can go back to that place some time, this is one thing that I should not miss to do. Although, we live now in a place with sea nearby, I did not try to go fishing because you need to get into the boat and go to the deep area. Unlike with fishponds, there are dikes parting each pond and it’s just very easy to take a seat on the dike and enjoy the activity. Living there was simple but we have abundant supplies of food because we have different crops and fruits in the surrounding. Living a city life is totally different. Aside from the noise and the pollution, everything you need would be bought. Do you have an activity in the past that you miss to do nowadays?

We don't worry and all we want is to play and have fun. Things were different when we grow up because our responsibilities would grow bigger as well.

It's fishing for sure. My hubby and I live nearby the sea and we used to go fishing everyday before until I came to stay over at my mother's place. My hubby and I really missed fishing. I really enhoyed every moment we spent together while fishing. It's a special feeling.

I think that was really fun doing those things in the past. I didn’t experience that myself but I do remember trying to go on the fields and try hunting for birds and wild duck. It’s quite a muddy play since you have to dock and hide so the birds would be disturbed an fly away. Doing that means you be dirty hiding in rice fields.

@ZedSmart haha yes those were the days indeed. I really don’t know if I could still do those things myself. Getting myself muddied and all and running after those birds in the field then bringing them back home for dinner.

There's lot of fun really. Yes, birds hunting are fun too. I also remember when we use to catch that nuisance "maya" in the rice fields. And who did not remember when one has to steal the birds eggs in their nest?

Yes, it is a good memory. I would surely love doing it when I get a chance to go back to the place of my childhood. We're not allowed to use fishnet because the owner we're growing bangus and prawns in the pond.
