I just lit a candle. It is a rainy and cool day today, and a day that I like to use candles. I don't light them too often in the summer. What are some of your favorite kinds of candles? Do you like scented, unscented? Are you a soy candle fan? What floats your boat in terms of candles?

I like a good scented candle, usually cinnamon apple scented, sugar cookie. Scents that please the senses.

I use wax melts and you remind me that I should start melting them again. I have melted some recently, but I think I'll go for the more fall scents soon. They are soy based, though in future I'll either make my own or buy beeswax based wax melts. I had to go to my sister's one last time this morning. I walked out into a very fall like morning. I loved it.

@snowy22315 I have jars wherein I can make candles if I so chose. I love the woodsy scents, the harvesty smells as well.

I never heard of soy candles. I do not light candles often, the smoke gives me some problems.

@LadyDuck The smoke bothers you even if you keep your distance from them? I only notice the smoke if I get close to them. Many have those jar lids which act as a snuffer.

It's funny, because I was just thinking about this! I don't normally have a lot of candles, but every now and then I like to light a candle to help spread a nice aroma around the home. With everyone talking about fall arriving, I was thinking today of bringing out my pumpkin spice candle and lighting it. But I decided to wait a few more weeks until we get more into the fall season. It hasn't even started to cool off here in Florida yet!

@snowy22315 That's always the most disappointing, when Mother Nature teases you with cooler weather for a day, and then yanks it right out from under your feet. Next thing you know, it's hot again. And you think to yourself, "Dammit, I just unpacked my sweaters and hoodies." haha

I use unscented candles. I buy them in case there is a power outage - I hate being left in the dark.

I don't worry about fires because I am always around when burning candles. I don't go to sleep with them lit or anything. They do have battery operated candles..for those who fear fire danger.

I think today most people use the candles for romantic usage. I haven't lit up a candle for a long time. I like the scented candles much more because it can make everything relaxing.
