I just lit a candle. It is a rainy and cool day today, and a day that I like to use candles. I don't light them too often in the summer. What are some of your favorite kinds of candles? Do you like scented, unscented? Are you a soy candle fan? What floats your boat in terms of candles?

Yes, I think scented candles are nice and the fragrance is good to have around.

I use wax melts and you remind me that I should start melting them again. I have melted some recently, but I think I'll go for the more fall scents soon. They are soy based, though in future I'll either make my own or buy beeswax based wax melts.
I had to go to my sister's one last time this morning. I walked out into a very fall like morning. I loved it.

Yes, I like the fall scents. Maybe the next time I go shopping I will pick up a candle or two.

@snowy22315 I have jars wherein I can make candles if I so chose.
I love the woodsy scents, the harvesty smells as well.

I can understand why you might not be a fan then.

@LadyDuck The smoke bothers you even if you keep your distance from them? I only notice the smoke if I get close to them. Many have those jar lids which act as a snuffer.

@snowy22315 It is a shame, because I like the smell.

It's funny, because I was just thinking about this! I don't normally have a lot of candles, but every now and then I like to light a candle to help spread a nice aroma around the home. With everyone talking about fall arriving, I was thinking today of bringing out my pumpkin spice candle and lighting it. But I decided to wait a few more weeks until we get more into the fall season. It hasn't even started to cool off here in Florida yet!

@snowy22315 That's always the most disappointing, when Mother Nature teases you with cooler weather for a day, and then yanks it right out from under your feet. Next thing you know, it's hot again. And you think to yourself, "Dammit, I just unpacked my sweaters and hoodies." haha

I never use them in power outages. I have alternative light sources.

@snowy22315 I have battery operated lamps as well - nothing as sophisticated as your sources I suppose.

I don't worry about fires because I am always around when burning candles. I don't go to sleep with them lit or anything. They do have battery operated candles..for those who fear fire danger.

Ha, you're funny Dianne N.! Of all the expensive things you do, burning candles has to be the cheapest..

Yes, I do. I use it for my essential oils. I am using the unscented ones, by the way.

Oh, I guess if you have essential oils you don't need others.
