Studies have shown that coffee has several health benefits. It is a international favorite and nice to know it has these benefits. It has been shown that caffeine can boost the body's metabolism, increases fat burning, blocks a inhibitory neurotransmitter in the brain which causes a stimulant effect and even improves mood and energy levels. Studies also show that coffee drinkers have a much lower risk of type 2 diabetes. Coffee also has several important nutrients such as niacin, riboflavin, manganese, magnesium, potassium and pantothenic acid.

@celticeagle Usually I just drink one cup of coffee only. I am afraid I will be sleepless at night if I drink it too much.

Well it can if you drink it black, once you start putting in the creamers and sugars that is when it gets dangerous and also too much caffeine is really bad for the heart. I rather have tea haha

@celticeagle Of course, but it isn't as strong and I can actually drink tea without adding stuff in it whereas coffee just tastes like dirt if it doesn't have creamer or sugar.

Yes very true about those benefits. From what I read drinking up to 4 cups of coffee per day is perfectly safe. Beyond that, you risk some harmful side effects among them: Jitters, Restlessness, Increased heartbeat, Nausea,
Anxiety, Heart palpitations (cardiac arrhythmia) and Insomnia.

Well, coffee has side effects too, if taken in huge amounts such as anxiety/nervousness, insomnia, nausea, increased heart rate, headache, etc.

So little is known about nutrition---coffee, eggs and so many other foods are bad one day and good the next! Now Time magazine is reporting in its Oct 1 issue that whole milk is better for you than low fat milk and the same with cheeses, etc.

I think that everything in moderation is the best rule.
