The Uninvited Guests - My Impressions So Far

I've mulled over this for a bit, wondering whether I could get away with telling you my impressions of the book without seemingly giving away the plot. I've decided I will try, with the hope that when all is said and done, I haven't ruined the book for any potential readers of it. Clovis and Emerald seem to just be going along in their life, with no real occupation to take up their time. Neither of them seem to like their stepfather (Edward), but there's really no reason other than they seem to find him boring. It doesn't seem to be the memory of their own father that causes them to dislike their stepfather. Though I do think they can't really reconcile the fact that their stepfather is missing an arm. This seems to be the foundation of why they do not like him, without it seeming as if they are judgmental against disabilities. Charlotte (Mother) seems to be a bit of a drama queen. She also seems to be the type to steer away from any conflict, especially those that would jeopardize her social standing. Edward (Stepfather) I don't know much about him because he left early on business to do with the house. He seems like a good man, and he has stepped into the roll of father and head of house. I think that is the biggest reason why Clovis (stepson) loathes his stepfather. Smudge (Imogen I nearly forgot about Smudge. She is the youngest child (Clovis and Emerald being her siblings) and she seems to be perfectly content with staying to herself and investigating her curiosities. If the book were to continue on past her childhood, I think we'd find that she was a lot like her mother. I don't believe the plot stretches more than a few days. Well, there ya go. I tried to keep it short and sweet and I think I did a good job of not giving away the plot. I guess you would call this a character sheet or character analysis. The Book : The Uninvited Guests by Sadie Jones I am on page 60 of 259.

It's not much of a review as I am only (checks book) 83 pages in now. I have been slacking when it comes to my reading, and I thought posting about it here would give me a push to read more. Either way, I hope you will like it. I really wish more people would discuss books.

@RasmaSandra Hmm, but no this was a sitcom I am sure of it. I am also sure it will eventually come to me, most likely right before my head hits the pillow and I am asleep.

Sounds like a good book and I'm interested in the Mother who is a drama Queen. Just like my Mother. Lol

She is also a bit of a loner, and somewhat self absorbed. I don't know whether to like her or hate her.

I suppose it doesn't hurt (as the synopsis says as much) to explain that the book centers around the occupants of the home being put into a tizzy after a nearby railway accident which required the passengers to seek refuge at their home.

@ScribbledAdNauseum now that sounds a bit more intriguing. I have a few other books to finish reading first.
