And The Scale ......

Have I lost any? I decided to do a weigh in today, its been a month since I went to the doctor and he was disappointed that I gained 2 pounds over the summer. I promised myself I would drop the 20 pounds this year so I go back on track. The doctor was asking me to be on a low salt, sugar free, low fat 1,000 calorie a day diet. Not happening. Its not that I want to go against his advice its just that I am not good at obsessing with calorie intake. I do look at sugar intake and now I do check out the salt content, but usually eat it anyways. This morning I stripped down naked, yes there is nothing to blame for an ounce! And I stepped on the scale. I was pleased! I have lost 5 pounds. How? I cut out snacks, no in between snacks. And I cut portion size down. A few days ago I began to double the exercise, I walk. Because the rest of the time I do lifting at work. So how have you been on weight lose?

Oh big congrats Angie! I was on that fast and lost 4 lbs but then I put it right back on when I started eating again. I just cant seem to do it right now. I have cut out sugar but the other day I had to have some butter pecan ice cream and I enjoyed it and deserved it lol

@andriaperry I do miss my skinny flat tummy days that I will probably never see again. But with everything I already do I cant see anymore exercise helping and I love to eat. SOOOO I guess I will stay a little tubby. People have argued with me about how much I weigh. They cant believe it is over 170. Yes I could stand to lose a little.

Years ago my doctor told me I'd be better off remaining at a stable weight than I would be going up and down, so I do my best to stay at about the same weight. If I see it inching upward, I'll increase exercise or subtly change my diet.

@andriaperry Good point. I have reduced the amount of what I eat as a means of maintaining my weight as I age since my metabolism, which has always been slow, has gotten slower.

I don't put too much energy into worrying about my weight. I gain a little, I lose a little. My metabolism is finally balanced where I don't worry about it any more.

I have not checked the scale since my August appointment. I keep gaining and losing the same five pounds. Or two. I would like to lose eight. That would kick me down lower than I have been in twenty years.

While I am one that doesn't worry about weight, I think all of us have hurdles in life we have to face. I think that's good that you lost 5 pounds! I think what you are doing now is the best way to go. To me most diets as they call them doesn't work in the long run, sure people might loose weight that way, but before long they get tired of it and got right back eating as they did before. I believe this is why I think you will succeed with what your doing now, your not just cutting everything out, you are cutting down on what you eat! How much is your goal to loose? When I said everyone has hurdles to face mine is the big old quieting smoking!! I keep trying but lord it's hard!

I am short and look deceivingly "small" (but I know I need to work out the middle area ). Number wise I may be ok, but I can sure tone up in a few areas . Towards the end of year, if I gain some, I like to think it's just my body preparing for the winter .

Good for you, Angie! I've lost four pounds of the ten I want to lose. It sure is harder the older I get, though. You're so active and work so hard, you'll do fine. It's wise the way you're doing it.

I lost 10 kilo a few years ago (about 22 pounds) but haven't been able to lose any more. I'll have another go while Vince is away. I cut out snacks and cut down portion size too. And stopped eating breakfast so I more or less fast between about 7pm and 11am.

I cut breakfast out too! I really hate eating in the mornings but I wanted to take my metformin, but the doctor told me to set my own hours for it, so I did. Lunch.

Congrats on your recent achievement. As for me, I had weight problems before (from high school to 2nd-year college) My classmates would call me names (fatty, biggie, etc). And that hurt a lot. I lost my confidence in myself. That's why I have decided to go on a diet and take some exercises at home. I have lost almost 20 pounds in a span of 1 and a half years. It's just a small number but now I can wear medium-sized clothing.
