What Is Up With THIS Double Standard?

Ever notice in North American gatherings of close family and friends, the women hug and kiss the women, women and men hug and kiss, but there’s very little male to male contact? Are men more deserving of personal space? What’s with the double standard? Frankly the only person I want touching me is my husband.

Maybe we should enourage the men to hug and kiss each other.

Agreed! Until this sexism stops, no one is touching me, just cause I’m a woman.

There is really no kissing going around my family and friend get togethers. There are a lot of hugs, but that goes for the men around me too. The guys all give each other hugs. In our church even the guys will greet each other with a handshake or hug. My dad's side of the family is huge, and man or woman, they all hug. I do not mind hugging, but I hate it when people kiss me. There is a guy who every time I see him, he kissed my cheek. I think he caught on though.

Cool. I guess when people say “men don’t do that” I can say “of course they do!”
