It is a rather cool and gloomy Tuesday morning here to my end, my fellow users of this site. How was your Monday? I will resume my duty this afternoon, so my sister will be left alone until my son comes home at 5:45 PM. Right now too, our television is set on a local channel where we are watching the weather news; it was announced that the typhoon Paeng is gaining strength but is moving away from my province. Of course I feel glad that hopefully we will be spared of the rains, winds, and gustiness of the typhoon, and that is what we should thank God for. My sister however, is showing antagonism again. Instead of hoping for the best, she contradicts the weatherman and says, “what if the typhoon changes course and hits us again instead?” I kept on telling her to hope for the best but she also keeps on saying “what if?” My optimism should not be defeated by her pessimism. I am trying to not have discussions with her because I do not like to always point out my ideas and opinions to somebody who would not listen to me. Later, she told me she will burn the dry leaves ‘because it WILL rain this afternoon’. I told her there may be some students and employees who would not want to smell ‘smokey’ going to their schools and offices respectively, but she insisted to burning this morning. I therefore told her I will do the burning. Oh, it is so hard to have discussions with somebody older than you!

yes, she is like that, so cynical and antagonistic to my ideas. we are only 2 sisters but clearly, we differ from each other in so many ways.

@ridingbet Clearly. Honestly I admire you for your patience with her. None of my sisters are like me either. We do not get along at all. Shame.

Do not listen to your sister, she likes to complain and so she starts to complain even for something that will most possibly not happen.

@ridingbet I have noticed with my mom during the years that it was the only way that worked. Discussing always led to arguing.

@LadyDuck that is true. almost always, my sister utters words that are sarcastic, and since i am sensitive, i tend to talk to her but in a louder voice.

She's just stating her opinion and enjoys probably being paranoid.

'just stating' would be fine, but how if she stresses her points so much as if pounding the table already?

I hope the weather does stay fine by, Ingrid. I know how frustrating it can be to talk to someone who does not listen. Good luck with your duties this afternoon.

@bluesa yes, these 2 students have their own reasons but from my own observation, one's reason is more valid than the other.

She seems so set in her ways. Don’t listen to her and do your own thing.

i would like to think maybe because she is now a senior citizen so her way and manner of thinking is also different from mine now, but there are times that she talks with sense.

you are an optimistic person. i am too, but my sister contradicts what i say, and she is pessimistic. about an hour ago and again several minutes ago, there were so strong rains and winds that my sister became so anxious and said ''Paeng is here", until i told her Paeng is now in Batanes group of islands.

i garee. i know her personality as somewhat superior, but i also know myself who does not go undefeated. if not for the heart ailment that i have i will make it my point to prove to her that she gets is all wrong about anything she contradicts from my principles.

Sometimes I like talking to the elderly when it comes to the happenings of the past.

i would like that if the elderly are my parents are those who have experienced WW11, but my sister is just 11 years my senior so i don't think i can gain much about history from her.
