Small things do accumulate. So, since the cost of ginger is at $4.5 per kilo, I decided to plant some in our garden. Ginger is a staple in our cooking. I know it's not much but I think this project is a fun thing to do. What efforts are you taking to save more?

I have oregano planted in my garden. I use it fresh and dry and havenĀ“t bought any for many years.

Do you use Oregano in food preparation? Or for treating cough?

@marguicha It's a cooking staple there in your place. I have tasted oregano once when I ordered Bacon and Pineapple Flauta. And it tastes weird at first because we only use it to treat cough and therefore taste like medicine or leaf, but I have to say it does add flavor to the food.

@rakski Ours got sick as well. I used to harvest a lot. Another problem are the ants, such pesky insects.

If you have spare lot or even in pots you can plant cooking staples. You don't have to buy it and you know it's free from pesticides

Have you ever heard of the 56 week challenge? Every week you set aside a certain amount and record it. You are not to touch that money until the 56th week ends and then you count how much you have saved.

It's a great idea. This weekend I saw a magazine saying 'tips for saving money' on its cover. I decided to not buy the magazine, that was my idea to save some money.

That's nice because we often use calamansi with Soy Sauce or salt as dips for grilled and friend fish, pork or chicken and many other dishes.
