Guardians of the seas

As I reached the seaside this morning after our walk at the ovals to catch the rising sun, I saw people in orange from afar. As they came nearer, I found out that they were men and women of the Coast Guard doing a coastal clean-up. There were about 50 of them and most were bringing empty sacks of rice where the placed the trash they picked as they moved along the seaside. It was not until most of them have passed where I stood that I realized that it was an opportunity to take shots of this good deed of our guardians of the seas. Now they're not only guardians of the seas but carers of the environment. As I drove on my way home, I saw several policemen with the rest of the coast guards coming along with the clean-up.

I was happy to see them too doing the clean-up. I've joined 3 clean-ups at the far end of this beach near the runway of the airport and the trash there was so awful.

I hope they do that everyday. And also the government officials should have employees of theirs do that also. But what is best is that , those living near the coastal area be made to do the cleaning everyday.

@sunrisefan Actually, the head of the community should mandate those who live by the sea to always clean the seaside.

I think it's not possible for them to do the clean-up everyday because they have their duties to attend to. I have observed that there are a few youngsters and some oldies cleaning the seaside in the morning and I think they are hired by the barangay. A year or two ago, I even took a photo of two boys sweeping the trash and putting it in empty sacks of rice.

I think if I lived at the cost I would be volunteering for teams like this. I believe we should keep preserving and cleaning up so that our grandchildren can enjoy the pleasures of this beautiful earth. I do inland cleanups every so often

So far, I've participated in 3 coastal clean-ups and met an American veteran. People leaving their trash should be ashamed of themselves to this guy. Despite leaning on crutches, he's been helping in several clean-ups.

That's a wonderful photo. It's a shame they have to clean up the trash left by others.

Yes, it's really a shame but the people who go there and enjoy the night at the seaside are not ashamed at all.

Good thing to see them around not just protecting us but of course in helping us have a clean place. Good job for them.

Yes, you're right :) Good job for these men and women :) I had a frustrating experience in one of 3 coastal clean-ups that I participated in before. When we were already done with the clean-up and were already bringing the sacks of trash to a designated spot, 2 girls and a male arrived and posed holding the filled up sacks. When I arrived home, I saw their photos on FB posing with the sacks saying they joined the coastal clean-up. I was really very mad at these hypocrites wanting popularity.

Good to know that it has become a trend. Really time to act to mitigate climate change effects.
