The 900 acre Bellandur lake of Bangaluru is spewing toxic fumes as high as 10 feet that are seen spilling on roads around. Not so long ago this foam had caught fire and polluted the city. Efforts are made to contain this foam probably resulting from effluents that come from industries.
In July, the sewage-filled froth of Bellandur lake travelled all the way to neighbouring Kolar district and reached a 1,400-crore water project.

That is a sad thing but it is so true. I saw this lake last year on a rainy day and these toxic fogs were flying high in the sky and even falling on faces of motor riders and other people.

That must have definitely had a bad effect on those riders.

@allknowing Oh they are toxic and people still have to face them everyday as they can not stop commuting to work. Life is so cheap in our country. We hold it in our hand once we step out and we are lucky if we come back home safe.

It looks a lot like snow, but this is horrible, the foam will probably move and pollute more places.

I wonder why it is only in Bangalore and not in any part of India or elsewhere

@LadyDuck It could be a good source for producing cooking gas - just saying.

@allknowing For what I read, the lake has become an "open sewage" and the result is that the lake catches fire because of the flammable methane generated from its oxygen-starved waters. I have read that "for the moment" it's the only one in India, but authorities have warned that this could happen to other locations.

Oh my! That is scary. Imagine a lake filled with sewage. No wonder it is spewing toxic fumes! What is the government there doing about it?

Obviously no government would ignore this but it will take years for them to tackle it

Seems the authorities are trying to get rid of this menace but as long s the route cause is not remedied there is little anything can be done.
