Finally it's not too hot for the bees

I took these pictures in early August and forgot about them until now Sept 25 2018

I have been noticing more bees around lately, not as many as there used to be back in the late 1990s but more than what I've seen in the last couple of months. Back in early August while at mom's house I got these shots of this beautiful bee flying in for a treat, her vines are on the north side of her house so it's kinda cool in the mornings. My morning glories are finally sprouting so I imagine I will have bloom by late October, it just gets too hot where I live for them to sprout before now. Are bees still keeping busy where you are?

We have still many bees where I live and they are still active on my flowers. The 4 o'clocks are still in full bloom, the bees seem to like those flowers.

This is good to hear. Hopefully they will be able to recover their numbers in other parts of the world.

I have heard that many of the chemicals still available in US are no longer available in most of Europe @LadyDuck

@rebelann Here in Switzerland many chemicals used in agriculture have been banned years ago, it's not the case in many European countries.

I don't like wasps and fortunately I haven't seen too many of them. There is a larger paper wasp population here though but so far none of them has been aggressive towards me.

Yes, it's still warm enough here to keep the bees busy. My flowers are still blooming, too.

The bees have been really humming here as everything is out in flower at the moment.

@rebelann I know the boffins are worried about the declining bee population.

I am find Carol, I wasn't sure it was you, I'm having vision problems right now when it comes to small text or photos @CarolDM and you know how stupid our PCs are when we magnify too much. How are your blue birds?

I'm sorry you were stung. Thank you, but those are in my mom's yard, I'm trying to get the trumpet vine to grow here but so far I have had no luck with the seeds I've brought home.

I have seen a few bees but I would sure like to see more. I've heard that some of the hive collapse problems have improved but the numbers are still dangerously low.

I've seen lots of bees this year. We've had lots of blooms to attract them.

Same here @DWDavis I haven't seen nearly as many as I would like and my neighborhood has a bee keeper but there are also a lot of ignorant people here who still use dangerous insecticides and herbicides, I only use the organic remedies that won't harm them You are so lucky to have so many @morelyhunt this year I noticed mom's neighborhood had more than mine, I think fewer people in her suburb are using harsh chemicals.

@Morleyhunt I hope the bee's numbers are rising each year now. It seems more people are aware of how to protect them. Keeping bees also seems to have become a popular pastime for many. My cousin and her neighbor are new beekeepers.

There haven't been too many bees here either and goodness knows I grow plenty of flowers which should attract them.

So true @jaboUK not too long ago some idiot teens destroyed some 500 bee hives on a commercial agricultural site. If I'd been their parent I'd have whipped the daylights out of them then had them put in juvenile prison.

I would suppose your area gets really cold in October and November and that'll probably be when they stop buzzing around as much.

@rebelann It doesn't get real cold, but it does get cold enough for the insects to leave, die, or whatever happens to them.

Yesterday we were watching the bees in the zinnias. Last nights frost killed the zinnias...now the bees will need to be content with the marigolds. Tomorrow morning we head out for a long, long drive....to Texas.
