I have cotton in my ears

No, I actually have cotton in my ears. Well ear to be exact. It aches. I put ear relief drops in it already, but that only helped for a little while. The cotton seems to sort of help, but it still aches. I also took an allergy pill. Not that I expect it to do much, but it might do a little to help. What do you do for an ear ache?

This ear has been sensitive for years. I think it was the use of an earphone that made it worse.

@Mavic123456 While I am sure you are being kind, I really don't like when people tell me to see a doctor. I do not like doctors. As it is, my ear no longer aches. A doctor's appointment would have been a waste.

I don't do anything, unless it lasts days then I go to the doctors and get medicine.

It has gone away, luckily. I am just glad that an old co-worker suggested these drops to me a few years ago.

Hope your ear feels much better soon. When I have had an earache I have soaked cotton with camphor oil which greatly helps.

I don't have the box that this ear ache relief came in, but I'm going to look at the bottle and see if it says what it is in it. It's a homeopathic ear drop from simalsan. This has homeopathic chamomilia, Mercurius Solublis, Sulphur and vegetable glycerin. I think I've heard something of mineral oil, and witch hazel but those might be for cleaning the ear out. I will look into getting camphor oil as well, in case this doesn't do the trick. I think I irritated this ear by putting an earbud in it earlier.

I can only have an ear ache if I used it a lot in my sleep. Most of the time my left ear aches sometimes because of I always sleep on the left side.

It is my left ear that was aching yesterday. I wrap a blanket around my ears to keep the air from coming into them.

Often times, due to build up of ear wax, we have ear pain. Make sure that your ear is clean. Instead of taking medicine yourself, consult a doctor.

It is not build up of wax. I have had this trouble with my ear for several years. It is sensitive to cold air. I also had an earbud in it several times today which made it ache. As for doctors? No Thank You.

I never experienced that at all. So I have no idea. But if that happens to me I'll sure visit my EENT Doctor.

I haven't had a earache for decades, so do not remember what I did then.

I used to get really bad earache when I was little. Then nothing for years. Then *BOOM* I got one again. I think I simply applied heat to it. I haven't had another one since, but I think the cold affects my ears more than anything else. Hope it stops aching soon!

The cold is what gets to my ears as well. An old co-worker suggested I try simalasan Ear Ache Drops. It's a homeopathic ear drop, and I think it's either made in Sweden or is a Swedish company. The one who recommended it to me said she used to get ear aches as a child, and sometimes as an adult. This helped her immensely.

i used to get ear aches a lot in the winter when i was a kid. i think thats why i wear a hat a lot now and clean my ears at least twice a day with a q-tip. i used to wear a beanie over my ears when it was cold. i try not to use earphones that go in the ear canal. i like the ones that either go on the outside , like the pill shaped ones, or just the over the ears headphones.

I think I may have damaged the drum just enough for it to be sensitive to cold now. I don't know whether that's the case or not, but I have a homeopathic ear drop that helps me a lot. I also put a blanket around my ears whilst sleeping to keep the cold air away. I did use earphones yesterday and I think that's what set this off.

@ScribbledAdNauseum - youprobably put it in too much to where it irritated your ear drum. get some over the ear headphones. i dont like using the inner ear ones, if i do used them i make sure they are not in that much. most feel too big anyways.

Amber, I have endless problems with my ears too. Either I feel something "shifting around" in one of them (always afraid it's a spider or something)....or I'm dizzy for no apparent reason (middle ear probs)....or one of them is all blocked up and the other one is perfect, so then I'm completely deaf in one ear and I feel lopsided. Usually, I just wait it out and/or take Meclizine for the dizziness, and if things get rough, I just go to the doc. Usually get put on antibiotics for a week, drops and capsules. Same thing every time. Good luck to you, ear problems are the worst. My dad says just to put some olive oil on a cotton ball and then put it in your ear, oddly, I've never tried that.

I've heard of people putting camphor oil and mineral oil as well. I think any warm compress would help.
