Facebook post claimed vicious dogs

Some of you may remember, I remarked on a news piece I was working on, right after the suspicious package incident, I covered in one of my posts here on myLot. I thought I'd give an update. The post went out on Facebook, Sept 21, 2018, claiming vicious dogs running loose in the community, it gave a number for someone from the Environmental Health Department, saying they were warning folks by going door to door. Basically, the post warned people to stay in their homes, which scared community members. I spoke with Local Law Enforcement, who stated they had no calls in regard to such incidents, which were being claimed 2-3 at the time. They also told me if a serious situation was occurring, they would have gotten an alert from the Health Department. The claim spread further to say, Local Law Enforcement must be keeping it hushed from the public. When you think about it, is that really logical? No, of course not! Upon speaking with the Inspector in question, he said roughly a week ago, there was an incident, but it was not severe or life-threatening, nor did it happen in the "areas" this Facebook post was claiming. They had no reports in that area, that they were aware of. We also heard back from the Acting Director, who said there was an Inspector doing a routine check on rabbi spots with some owners, but no one was in the area to capture "vicious dogs". He also said the Department contacted the person who put the post out, asking for it to be removed. This is the second issue, regarding a Facebook post, within the community, which spread concern throughout, within roughly three weeks time. An issue, I will be continuing to monitor. Is Facebook failing to keep its claim of cutting back on fake news?

This fake news does a lot of harm sometimes. Just like this, because of this, the next time people hear that there danger from vicious dogs, their not going to take it seriously and someone is goings to get hurt.

Hello Alfredo. I'm doing well. The last few weeks a bit crazy news wise so my sleep pattern is messed up, but I hope to sleep in this weekend. Flash Flood Watch now across the area so if it hits hard, I'm up. I've been monitoring it. Got a few shots about an hour ago. My garden didn't do well this year with all the humidity we've had, Can't believe I've got a break to get in here this week to catch up with everyone. Looking forward to checking out more of your posts.

I barely use facebook, but I can see where this would be alarming.

Some fake news is still out there on Facebook. If I see it, I ignore it. I think some put it out there so that readers will respond and then the person responding will get hacked by the person who put it out there.

This is exactly why I stay away from Facebook as much as I can. There's always going to be stupid people posting stupid stuff. Unfortunately, Facebook can't monitor and respond right away to every single post that is put out for the world to see.

I'm not on facebook much. That is bad that someone takes something out of context just to scare people.
