Three Tornadoes Touched Down

We had a 'severe weather warning' on television last night, until 7:30PM. We heard there was turbulence in the air over the Midland area, which is about 65 miles SW of where we live. When the warning was removed, we were informed that Midland didn't experience any tornadoes. Tonight on the news, they informed us that three tornadoes touched down last night, in the southern part of Michigan. When the weather changes from cold to hot or hot to cold, this is usually what causes these destructive, turbulent storms. So far this fall, we've heard about 8 different tornadoes that touched down, in Michigan!

We live in a part of the US, where tornadoes sweep through each year.

@kobesbuddy Perhaps the lower part of your country is more affected by hurricanes, usually in this period of the year. A use here "Littletiger" often talks about them.

Wow, I hope the tornadoes miss you. Take care and go for cover if one heads your way. Do you have a safe place to go? We don't but we would go into the bathroom with pillows and quilts to wrap up in the bath tub . It's in the center of the building with no windows so that would be the safest place.

I've heard the same thing, wrapping in blankets and laying in a bathtub is the safest place. We have a four foot crawl space, where I would go, in case a tornado tore through.

@kobesbuddy That might be better but take your quilts with you.

@RubyHawk I've heard that blankets keep a person safe, from flying debris.

Thanks, Marguicha:) The closest tornado was about six miles from where we live. It tore through a wooded area, then through a subdivision. Not one person was injured and no lives were lost:)

@marguicha Jay took me to that area, to see some of the damages. Huge trees had been torn out by their roots! A few homes had severe roof damage, where trees had fallen down. It's hard to believe that noone was injured!

Tornadoes are even more powerful than hurricanes.

But tornadoes usually follow a narrow path, while a hurricane reaches many miles.

@Deepizzaguy My father went through a hurricane that hit Florida, in 1928. Thousands of people were killed, by that fierce storm! If you want to look it up, this hurricane is recorded online.

My parents talked about tornadoes, when I was growing up. All I'd ever seen were pictures and heard about their destruction. Now, our part of Michigan is experiencing them, first hand!

Most of the damages were trees that were torn down, in the woods.
