If you won the lotto, would you tell your family and friends?

I'm not saying that you're being selfish by not telling them, but money doesn't always bring out the best in people!

Everyone would know anyway. You think you can win millions and nobody hears about it? From where I sit, my life style would change to some degree. I would not be extravagant, but I would be more comfortable. And I would certainly bring some people along with me. We would not just buy things. I would help those that can’t help themselves – the old and the sick. The ones that can work, I would form a partnership with them in a business so they can build themselves up. No handouts. People hate handouts. I am talking about true friends – the ones that were there for me. If you are not smart enough and strong enough to handle your millions, you will be broke in a very short time. Then maybe you had better not tell anybody about your money. In fact, maybe you are better off not ever winning the lottery. If you only look out for yourself, that money is not going to make you very happy. Your entourage will not include any loved ones and you will be so paranoid you won’t be able to sleep at night.

good answer, there's a woman in limerick where i go to college and she won something like 150m in the euro lottery, but she's put it into trust and can't touch it for 6 months, sensible head on her shoulders i think..:)

if i won the lottery i probably wouldnt tell anyone. its very dangerous. if your friends and family find out, theres a chance that other people with bad intentions will find out too. its best that you keep it a secret and just do good things for your family and friends. like give them lots of gifts this christmas.

We have discussed this and no we wouldn't. Any idiot can win lotto, let them think we earned it :) You are right, money brings out the worst in people. I would rather them think we were being generous with our hard earned cash, than mean with winnings.

if you've been notified by email ignore it, those people just want all your details which could result in identity theft.

I would tell my mother and sister Kim because they are the closest to me. But I would not tell the rest of my family or siblings. I couldn't careless what their opinion would be...they don't have anything to do with me before, why if I win money?

Well I would have no choice but to tell my family. They would know something happened when I started buying all the things that I want. And the things that I would want they know I could only purchase if I won the lotto. If they were having problems I would help them out and not be greedy.
