Little Girl and Little Man are two kittens who their feral mom (we call Mittens) quit nursing when they were about three weeks old and my sister brought them in so they wouldn't starve and she and I nursed them with bottles and a formula we found on line til they started eating on their own. Little man was first chewing his nipple away and being the bigger of the two even before we took them in, now at about 10 weeks is quite the "big" Little Man and ha to be watched that he don't eat all the food., Little girl is such a sweetie and nursed two weeks longer before eating but now is eating well. However Little girl had an accident a couple of weeks ago when she slid ad got her let hind leg caught is sis's bed rail and broke it in a couple of places. Wwe took her to the emergency vet as it was a sunday night and he splinted it and told us she would probably need surgery when we took her to a regular Vet for either pins or amputation. However the regular Vet wanted to wait and see how splints would do and an appointment was schedule to change the plints a week later. But that night the splint slipped and she had to go back to the emregency Vet who was quite unset that surgery wasn't suggested. He resplinted and we took her home. She went back to the regular vet as the splint was hard to keep on and they splinted again. A couple of days later since we couldn't keep her still or get her in a cage it was decided after all options and costs were discussed to let them keep her and change splints as she grew out of one and see if that would worl. The first changing was to have been last Thursday when we called and check. but they decided just after removing that splint just to keep her in the cage and ee what happens. Since this was the first chance we had to visit and find what's going on we were please to hear first that the splint was off (i's work schedule makes it hard to stay in better contact) and that the leg was healing pretty well and he may be able to come home sooner than the 5 weeks they were estimating or which we are glad. We almost want to pay that emergency Vet a visit when she doe come home saying "see she did not have to lose her leg" Little Girl was happy to see us purring the whole time she was there, Next week's visit we will also have Little Man as we will be taking him in for his shots.

I'm sorry Little Girl broke her leg and needs to stay at the vet until she heals. I'm glad she doesn't need surgery or amputation. They sound like very nice kittens.

You and your sister melt my heart. That is so kind of you to take care of those precious little babies. I hope her leg heals completely and the vet doesn't charge you a fortune.

What a beautiful act of kindness! Thank you for your caring ways and for sharing your experience with us. It brings back some of my memories of my little feline friends, their boo boo's and emergencies. I wish there were more people like us: Then there may be less homeless pets. Give Little Girl and Little Man a big hug from me and tell your sister thank you for her help too.

Gosh, that sounds like a lot of expensive treatment.
