Thanksgiving in Canada is around the Corner.

The actual day is October 8 this year. I have always participated on the Thanksgiving Weekend Craft Show in Vineland, Ontario. I set up my tent in a friend's yard and there are two large shows on both sides of me – one to my right and the other behind the school across the street from me. There is also a huge show up the mountain at Balls Falls. My sales in the store in Niagara On The Lake is taking all my paint time and I'm loving the money earned in that store. I also sell wine signs to a few local wineries. I don't need the weekend craft show anymore. That's a good thing. Outdoors shows is always an iffy because we are in mother nature's hand, and if she wants to rain or snow on us she does just that... In the past I have used my scrap slate and made small funny or sweet signs and sold them for $5. They sell well but I have a few hundred in the basement that I want to get rid of so I am selling them for $1. I hope a lot of them are sold next weekend and the leftovers I will donate to the charities shops in my area. It really will be my last show. Along with the $1 small slates I will have some wine signs and some of the bigger ones that I sell in my favorite store. Looking forward to having my children home and helping me at the Thanksgiving show. Happy Thanksgiving!

Hope your $1 slates sell well and I can't believe we're already talking about Thanksgiving. My daughter and I were talking about Thanksgiving the other day and we don't celebrate until late November. All the holidays will be here before we know it

What a wonderful way to clear out the basement of your older art pieces. You could even charge a toonie and probably sell tons. Our plans are up in the air at this point for next weekend, we should finalize our plans tomorrow or on Sunday.

@PainsOnSlate I'm afraid that we won't be heading that way next weekend. We made plans today, and we're going up to Port Franks to our daughter-in-law's mother's place. Its so nice and relaxing on Lake Huron.

@Juliaacv Lake Huron is a lot more interesting than a craft show. I just read your other comment about your fall and medical problems, I hope you get back to snuff soon, it sounds like you have some mending to do. Happy Thanksgiving, it is a time for family.

Will you still be selling your wares in the store or are you stopping that too? Another option might be to check out a new/old site I found yesterday that I wrote about. You wouldn't sell your product quickly necessarily but you could build a following for future sales. And who knows maybe more would find you on there. It's called patreon. Members are either creators or patrons and some are both. The patrons buy what the creators make. Some of us might even join to see what other members or in the. A lot of us so more than just writing.

@PainsOnSlate okay, understood. I don't think it's common knowledge other than for those that produce (creators) and their fans, but I could be wrong. It could be a great option for some people that don't have other outlets to sell their wares at a good price. I didn't stay there long enough to see how high the pricing can get.

The outside show is a crap shoot, you never know what the weather will be and we have in the past had rain and a few years of snow, its darn cold when the sun doesn't shine. I'm not only just too old to stand in someones yard for three days but my art is selling so well in the stores I honestly don't have time to do the show. I am painting right now for the show but if they don't sell there they will in the stores. And because they do sell so well in the store, my prices for the show have moved up. I am ready to give up the weekend show. My children come home for the weekend and help me out in a big way.. I avoid showing my art on line, and might have thought about it but I really, truly don't need another outlet and I know too many that just look to steal ideas.

@PainsOnSlate Yes, I realised it's only the small ones you want to get rid of.

You have a large collection, it's a good idea to get rid of them offering for sale at $1.00. I wish you plenty of sales.
