Halloweens of the Past

I was brought up at my grandparent's place. We never bought our costumes. All the neighbor kids just wore what they had around the house. It wasn't until I had my daughter that I ever bought a costume. I usually went as a gypsy due to my mom having so much jewelry and all my dress up clothes and such. Usually I went with my cousins who lived about a mile away. I was always supposed to be in my dark so being out after was rather grown up and a little creepy.
My grandmother always decorated the place up great for Halloween. One year I remember she kept the front porch dark, covered all the furniture with white sheets and dressed as a witch. She would use the flashlight to show her face with someone came to the door. It was so scary for little kids.

Sounds awful. We didn't do any masks. I knew everyone anyway on the street.

I love Halloween, but it hasn't been the same in my family for 4 yrs. My mom passed away on Halloween day 2014.

We had a family friend who turned their garage into a haunted house for the trick or treaters to walk through and we helped out for many years. They moved away so we don't do that anymore but it was always fun
