Does it hurt you?

I recently went to a newbie post on which he was given lot of tips. Among which someone gave him the tips to avoid calling my "friend and dear" which interacting. I gulped and that put me it deep thinking since I do this all the time. I consider everyone on mylot to be my friend. I never thought if someone might not actually like it and feel bad. Do you dislike it if someone calls you friend or dear? I'm sorry if I've hurt you I didn't meant to.

I don't mind the terms of endearment, but I wish that the people who use them would leave an elaborate comment and not just a "Thanks".

I agree dear. Sometimes we take our time and write a few sentence and all we get as answer is "thanks"

@BabeSays It especially hurts when the discussion is theirs and they dont participate. Seems so aloof.

I don`t mine it online, on mylot. I do not like it in person though, men can make me feel creepy calling me names like babe, honey, sweetie and darling.

I have been on online sites for about ten years. I find how we address each other differs and also the generation gap matters (degeneration?). I generally avoid these terms here except with very few who have become "dear friends" - siva

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. While I call others so because I am friendly. Maybe I am being too friendly. But I think mylot is a place for being friendly to each other. But you have a point.

I don't find it offensive if someone addresses me as friend or dear. In fact it makes me feel that I am close to that person.

I have no problem at all being a 'friend' or a 'dear' to anyone. I've had numerous members use those terms with me and I am fine with it. In fact I think it's nice.

@BabeSays With all of the conflicts we see and read about, terms of endearment are a very nice change of pace.

I think it is nice if you. I know there are people here who get annoyed by it but there is always something people will complain about.

@shaggin can I say "amen" to your comment? Some people look for reasons to be annoyed and complain. I hope I never do that to people.

@Courage7 is right, no need to apologize. Some people do not like to be called "dear" or "friend", but most users do not mind.

@LadyDuck Indeed that's not appropriate. I have been called bro, dude and other name so many times on my youtube account. They think I am a male kid. Buahahah

i prefer to be called by my name or username. i wish not to be addressed as ''dude'', ''bro'', or honey'', although there are some who address me that. i sometimes call Filipino Ilocano friends as ''kabsat'' (sibling) or hijo or hija. being called ''friend'' is fine as long as i know my boundaries as a 'virtual' friend.
