We have come to the end of the road, dock, runway and track, with today's trivia quiz. So as the band The Eagles might say, let's take a "Midnight Flyer," as we continue using song titles which use air transportation. Hopefully your answers make for a happy landing. Will use the video "Jet" by Paul Mc Cartney and Wings as we take off for the skies.... Here are todays clues- Whodunnit? 1. This Florida rocker band appeared in the movie "FM." The singer from this band collaborated with a bunch of well known British/American artists in 1988 to form a supergroup whose debut album won a Grammy award. The band was part of Southern rock, but was also at the forefront of the heartland rock movement, which arose in the late 1970s and 1980s. Heartland rock featured a straightforward classic rock approach with blue collar themes. Many people assume that this travel themed song is about drugs, but it isn't. The artist got the idea for it when he saw a pilot being interviewed on TV. The song was written with the help of his friend, Jeff Lynne, from ELO fame. On October 21, 2017, Bob Dylan played this tune at First Bank Center in tribute to the recently deceased artist. 2. This song original title was "In Other Words." The tune has become a frequently recorded jazz standard. The singer's 1964 version was closely associated with NASA's Apollo space missions. The song became the first music heard on the moon when Apollo 11 astronaut Buzz Aldrin stepped onto the surface. The singer was about to marry the 21-year-old Mia Farrow when he put this tune to disc, which gave his recording an extra spring in the step. Bonus: This Canadian/American Rock band's period of success was from 1968-1972. The group's career really took off when their first big hit, which reached #2 on the charts, (from the band's first album), was used in the 1969 counterculture cult film Easy Rider. This tune with the flying theme was released a few months later creating the same magic on the billboard charts peaking at # 3. Double Bonus: This tune has water transportation in it's title. This was one of the earliest disco tunes and it created some waves hitting # 1 for this pop/soul group in 1974. Thanks to the song's popularity on the NY Disco scene, and subsequent Top 40 Radio play, this tune rocketed to the top of the charts. This One-Hit Wonder group was unable to duplicate the success of this smash hit and disbanded sometime around 1980. Liner Notes: -"Jet" was the name of a black Labrador that Paul McCartney and his wife Linda owned; the dog provided the title for the song. -Honorable Mention: Yellow Submarine/The Beatles- Ringo sang lead on this light, fun, children's song. -Yellow Submarine, which hit # 1 in the UK, provided the title song to the 1968 animated movie Yellow Submarine, featuring cartoon figures of The Beatles. OK, another series completed. Any answers to those clues? If your stuck and need additional "help from your friends" just let me know in your response. As always thanks for reading and responding to my music post !!!! Source- Wikipedia & songfacts.com Photo- freepik.com

Yes, Frankie is correct! One is always better than none "C." You might know the artist in #1. He was an American rocker who was also a member of the group The Traveling Wilburys. His group recorded the songs "American Girl" & "I Won't Back Down." Bonus- Part of the group's name has the word "wolf" in it! This 60's group also had a huge hit called "Born To Be Wild."

There’s Jet!!!! And Petty!!! I got to meet him ever so briefly in 1982. And Frankie!!! Ah, you haven’t heard that song until you’ve heard Homer & Jethro’s rendition. Bonuses: a magic boat rocking carpet? Love R.T.B., wish all “disco” had been that good and I wouldn’t have hated disco so much. Great series!!!!!

Yes, I could not leave out one of my favorite Wings songs! Put Frankie there in tribute to my Dad. His favorite singer. Not sure if he would of known Homer and Jethro's version, lol. That was a really good disco tune. Howard Hughes would of been proud Appreciate the compliment and great comments to go along with the series...

@amadeo Frank Sinatra's nickname was The Chairman of The Board. Frank Sinatra was called “Chairman of The Board” because he was the Founder & Chairman of Reprise Records. Sorry about that!

Yes, Fly Me is the correct song for #2. I think The Chairman of The Board had the best and most recognized version....

Well, another one I don't know any answers to. I was hoping Yellow Submarine would be an answer, but I saw that in the liner. I was also hoping against hope on the only air travel one I know, but then I don't know who sang it, so it probably would still be a miss and that is I'm Leaving On A Jet Plane. There's also Up Up and away in my beautiful balloon. But that isn't an answer either, and I don't know who sung it. This is the whole summation of my air transportation songs.
