Another news story pt.1

So I've finally gotten back to my typical artist agenda. It's been a long road of trial and error, mural opportunities that got cancelled, and lots of disappointments. For those that don't know, I have an agenda in which I donate my paintings to small businesses unexpectedly, they hang them on display, and I pitch the stories to all the local press and media... finally I got another bite. It's only a small newspaper, but I was disappointed because I had really been hoping to get on TV news for it. I pitched the story to 2 TV news stations and a larger paper and all 3 of them have been ignoring me. My "plan A" was that I would email them with the story.. and if I hadn't heard back, I would call them. Well... that plan failed as they still ignored me. Plan B: was to have one of the business owners call and email. Surprisingly.. that didn't work either. My final "plan C" is that I am going to call and complain because they have neglected to reach back to me even if they weren't interested. My thoughts are that plan C will pressure them to look back into the story I had pitched. Sometimes it pays to shove your foot where it belongs when you are being ignored. It has been almost a month and a half since I had pitched the story. A complaint/follow up is already overdue. I titled this "pt. 1" because I plan to post a scan of the news article once it comes out which is supposedly going to be on thursday. What are your thoughts, everyone?

@Mr_Anomaly I am sorry that your plans did not work and they ignored you. I hate when that happens.

I hope plan C Works for you! Putting yourself out publicly like that and promoting yourself can be difficult!

Hi Michelle, I hope so too. I called and expressed my concern yesterday but came home to no reply email. Hopefully I will hear from them this week, otherwise I'm not really sure what plan D will be. It's likely that I will go public about my disappointment with them in the next press release I do to other news stations. Not to exact revenge necessarily.. but to stir up controversy... which seems to be a hot topic nowadays.

Good luck with all that. I had trouble getting local media to take any interest when I had my first novel published. Our local newspaper was rude about it. It's like they only care if it's someone they already have connections with.

Thank you! I at least got 1 newspaper interested, so it wasn't all for nothing... But I did call the TV news places and express my concerns for not getting any response.. at least with the one place the guy said he will forward my email to the news desk explaining to them that I want a reply. Even if I get a rejection I at least want to know that they looked into it. Then I could plan something bigger to grab their attention next year if this doesn't interest them. The other place I called... the lady had a little bit of an attitude.. saying that my story didn't ring any bells when I described it to her... she just told me to send an email again. Wasn't very helpful because they will likely just ignore it again. Then she pretty much just rushed her way to the end of the phone call. Newspapers are becoming more and more of a thing of the past. I feel the next step is to wiggle my way onto TV. But yes.. you're right.. those that they know and are familiar with do seem to get all the special treatment.
