Strange light. Wildfires approaching?

I don't know if you can tell from the photo I just took, but the light is strange here at my house. Looking toward the sun from my balcony, I noticed it looked kind of orange. The haze that shrouded it looked like it come from a fire, but I couldn't smell smoke.
Only when I drove to the gas station did I see what looked like smoke, coming from two separate locations, one to the South of me, and one to the Northeast. I tuned into the news, but didn't hear anything about wildfires or structure fires in the East Bay of the San Francisco Bay Area.
The sky is a beautiful blue to the West. But there's a "ribbon of darkness" (get it, @FourWalls?) over us here in the flat lands East of Berkeley. I remain mystified.

@TheHorse Oh yeah on both counts but Rancid has all of its parts except original drummer and Kennedy's miss most important piece but neat northern cali is represented and So cal if you do it right because they connected no matter how much hate is out there. Which already makes Lakers Warriors a thing before its starts. They may say its hip hop thing but bs its always been punk in this state because punk actually invites hip hop. They can say they keep punk relevant but punk was kept alive by punk and if true would have joined but hey its cool different ways means people have options and we can still be ally's standing up for right things. We just different and that is fine.

Yes, I finally saw reports about it in the late afternoon. There was a fire North of here, and a fire South of here. It was the Southern fire that was blocking the sun for me, but the Northern fire that eventually made the air smell like smoke. I can still smell a bit of smoke (it's Monday morning here now), but the sky is blue, with a hint of haze around the horizon.

Do let us know what it is when you find out. Your plants look happy. I did notice something odd tonight too. I sit by a window when I work on my PC and all I see outside is darkness or the moon at night but tonight a couple of hours ago a stream of planes one after the other were flying through the sky. I have not seen even one plane now so many I wonder who is arriving and why?
