It is so infuriating to know when a company rejects your application just because you are black or asian.
I recruit teachers for these companies so definitely I have native and non-native teachers.
Most of them prefer native speakers. Now, I have two applicants from South Africa, one of the countries they prefer to hire teachers from, but sad to say, both of them are rejected because they are black.
Another one is a Filipino applicant. She is very eloquent and qualified. But she too is rejected because she is Asian. Gosh, are you not asian too?
Why do you base your decision on the looks and color, why not on their performance? They have no problems with their accent. It is clear. Also, it isn’t their fault to be born black and asian!
I hope you change this stupid policy!

@Janet357 because it is difficult to get a work visa in Vietnam. Here Native speakers earn a lot specially those with degrees.

Yes. I understand if they dont hire a teacher because of his thick accent. It is really hard for kids undertand english if they have such accent. But if the teacher is qualified, having a clear nice accent, there is no reason for them to reject their application.

@Janet357 Talent is above all discrimination and it is always good for a country to follow it. It comes as a benefit for the nation in long run.

Perhaps it's not China but certain companies that are involved, I have had a lot of conversational English sessions with a lot of Chinese professionals and students and they are one of the nicest people that I have met. If these companies practice these kind of policies then they should put a stop immediately, they will never know what they are missing.

@Janet357 it could only be a conniving of the company and " some " government officials that have tie ups with native speakers, anyway I'm just hypothesizing, try to check first if this is a policy of the whole PRC or the problem could just be localized, it's a huge country.

Not a good example from a country. China should be broader enough to to know capabilities and skills of Asians and Blacks.
