Day 48 Luke 12:4-5 Luke 12:4 And I say unto you my friends, Be not afraid of them that kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do. 5 But I will forewarn you whom ye shall fear: Fear him, which after he hath killed hath power to cast into hell; yea, I say unto you, Fear him. Many people are afraid of death and dying. Stories abound of the afterlife. Fearful stories created from gruesome nightmares. Many stories are buried in legend, carried down from ancient times. Yet, what is the truth about death? Jesus told the people not to be afraid of anyone who could kill the body. Jews lived in fear of crucifixion, Rome’s answer to disobedience to the emperor. Yet, Jesus told the people not to worry about what Rome did to them, because after they killed the body, there wasn’t anything more they could do to them. Instead, Jesus told them the person they should fear, and that is God, who has the power to send people to hell. As Christians, you have no fear of hell. You exchanged hell for heaven when you accepted Jesus as Savior and Lord. Ephesians 2:1 And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins; 2 Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now works in the children of disobedience: 3 Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others. 4 But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, 5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) 6 And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus: 7 That in the ages to come he might show the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus. There is no fear in death when you know your salvation lies in Jesus Christ, who shed his blood for you on Calvary’s cross. Death is something you look forward to because you know as soon as you pass from this life, you are in heaven with Jesus. 2 Corinthians 5:8 We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord. (KJV) However, God does tell you who needs to fear death and hell. 1 Corinthians 6:9 Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, 10 Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God. (KJV) Everyone has a choice to live for Christ or reject him. All those who accept Jesus as Savior and Lord will go to heaven. All those who reject him, God will cast into hell. It is your choice, not God’s, where you spend eternity. Let’s pray: Father, you know my heart. Help me live for you every day of my life. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen. In other words do not be afraid of humans who can kill the body but not your life. Only God can kill your life which means, you haveno chance to be resurrected once you die.

Everyone is resurrected at the last judgment. Those who rejected Jesus, face him one last time before he sends them to hell.
