I have several friends and even a shirttail relative named Michael. They aren't too impressed that the current storm is named for them.
I taught with a teacher named Katrina when "she" happened.
The masculine form of my name was used by a destructive hurricane.
So what about you? Have you got friends or relatives who share the name of a storm?

Not yet. But, it's incredible how the storms are given the name of people. Who named them thus?

There are lists by the World Meteorological Organization in Geneva. They rotate the lists by year and sometimes they remove a name that has caused trouble in the past.
While the monikers of current hurricanes, including Earl and Fiona, may seem simple, the system of naming hurricanes has a long and complicated history.

We do have friends who've had storms for namesakes. Unfortunately, I cannot recall any typhoon bearing my name.

Hurricane Vince is the closest I think. Vince is my husband but he doesn't create too many storms.
